We have a partial responsibility (along with parents) to moderate who can and can't access the site. I know it's a bummer, but I came to the conclusion that it was just a necessary evil, if you will, in order to protect not just ourselves, but also our younger users. One of our admins has already received a not-too-friendly message from a parent for interacting with their underage child online and to be honest, I can understand where they're coming from; there is a lot of unsavoury material here. At the very LEAST, we have to be of the administrative stance that known under 13s aren't allowed on the site (regardless of how easy it may be for them to simply lie about their age, or whatnot).

I honestly hate kids underage using this site, but I have a better suggestion instead of banning kids. Banning kids are harsh, even if they're innocent just like Normtendo64.

Here's a better solution:

Ban all the IPs of the trolls. That one kid was a troll, he tried to bully people.

Before straight on banning, warn them through message.

Second Solution:

Have a reporting thread where users can report other users and the community decides on it. That would be the case for that 10 year old.

You already have a comment reporting thread, so why not have an in general reporting thread?
