I've been watching a lot of old Cheerios commercials featuring aforementioned characters, Kid and Sue (I like the latter character, cause I think she's cute Dx) . They were apparently made by Joe Harris, the guy who made the Trix the Rabbit,
which makes sense considering these cereals are from the same company, General Mills. Uh, the general gist of these commercials is, something bad happens, the boy named Kid eats Cheerios in order to get strong, a large cheerio is inside and enlarging his bicep, he succeeds/the day is saved, yadda yadda.
There isn't a lot of information on it since it isn't documented very well, ergo potential lost media on these commercials. For instance, the ones that I saw were all on Youtube, and based this ebay link, yet I haven't come across a commercial that uses this animation cell for sale.
Another lost piece of media was this video, it used to be on youtube, but has since been removed. It's about a mountain lion, and they remade the commercial later in the 80s, based on the comment section there. I later found it on retrojunk, and there's barely a difference how it plays out besides the jingle part in each of them and I guess how it ends.
