So I figured I may as well make another thread for this as The Rabbit And The Tiger book I was looking for is now found. I was able to find a used copy of the very rare book online that ships to Canada. It wasn't cheap, and it's a bit rough but I have it now. But it unfortunately raised a few more questions. I have distinct memories of scenes that aren't in the book. And it's made me question since the memory was so old, did I confuse bits of it with another book? If so, what was the other book?
I remember multiple animal characters and one of which, (who I remembered as a rabbit but could have been confused with this one), played pranks on the other animal characters.
I remember at one point he was standing behind a bunch of bushes laughing and pointing showing his other friends an easily fooled character whom he tricked, eventually, the animals get revenge on him and trick him somehow.
i remember him sitting in water possibly a river at the end realizing he got what he deserved, and making up with his friends. If it sounds familiar it's because most of this I attributed to the Rabbit And The Tiger story in which a rabbit repeatedly tricks a tiger. And even makes the tiger think the moon is made of cheese and tricks him into jumping into the river. However now I have that story and there are no other animal characters, the rabbit does not make friends with the tiger, the tiger does not trick him back and there is no scene with the rabbit standing behind bushes laughing and pointing.
I am certain these scenes existed and must have involved a similar story with animals.
I even remember the other characters chasing a reflection of the moon, and them using a refection of a carrot to make it look like a giant carrot was in the river tricking the rabbit to jump in. However, those parts may be false memories due to the fact I confused that story with this one. I had thought about the possibility of it being by the same authors, however because The Rabbit And The Tiger is a very rare book information about the author; R.E Alegria, and illustrator; D. William Johnson seem to be scarce... Did this other book even exist or did I imagine it? Was it some even more rare extended alternate take on The Rabbit And The Tiger?
I read this book when I was kid sometime during the early 2000s.
