I had this up on Reddit's Tip of My Tongue for about a year and never got any answers, so I feel like this might be something better suited to these forums since it seems to be pretty obscure.
My family used to rent random low-budget, semi-obscure movies all the time. Sometimes they were Dove approved, sometimes they weren't, and they were usually from the 2000s. Two specific examples I know the titles of for sure are Christmas in Wonderland (2006) and Labou (2008), so think along those lines. Might also be from the late 90s or veery early 2010s, though. The timeframe for when we watched them would probably be from around 2007-2012 in the USA.
The one I'm trying to find was about horses/farm life, but I don't remember what the exact plot was. The only thing I remember specifically about it was that there was a weird cutaway subplot where these two brothers (or possibly cousins?), who were either related to the main character or were just random farmhands, were constantly playing escalating cartoonish pranks on each other. It stood out to me because it completely clashed with what was otherwise a pretty generic movie.
There's one scene I remember for sure, and my brother has corroborated this, so I know it must be pretty accurate and it definitely exists somewhere out there. Basically, one of the cutaways cuts to a stable with no one else inside except one of the brothers, who's kind of sneaking around/hiding. The other one eventually walks in, and the brother in hiding pops out with a stereotypical white pie and throws it at him. The other one pulls out his own pie or picks up the one that hit him and throws it back, and the whole scene devolves into them running around the stable throwing pie back and forth. I feel like some goofy Benny Hill-esque music was put over it, but maybe that's just my brain making up extra details. I also remember the brothers both being white young adults and having brown hair and brown vests on? Again, might be inaccurate because this is literally the only scene I can remember and I watched it over 10 years ago.
If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about, please help me out! This has been a mystery for my brother and I for years, and every few months I search through random horse movies but never have had any luck. I can't seem to find anyone else out there who has mentioned this specific subplot online either. Thanks in advance!
