Anyone know if there’s a database somewhere for the anti drug videos they used to show in elementary/middle schools? I went to elm/middle on the east coast of Virginia from 1990-1999. Some of the videos were at least from the 80s maybe even the 70s and I’m sure some from the 90s, though most of them I remember looking very old. Some were shown on VHS and others on reel to reel.
One in particular that stands out in my memory had one part about LSD and someone who was supposedly skitzed out (for lack of a better term) on LSD. He was sitting in a bed, all you could see was his silhouette (for privacy I guess) and at one point he says “I’m Superman” then raises his arms in the air and starts jumping on the bed singing “sup-ermaaaan”. I’ve looked on YouTube and have done searches but can’t find this or any of the films they used to show us in school. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm not aware of anything like a comprehensive database. You might find something with the National Institute of Health or the Department of Health & Human Services, though those might only have recently produced PSA's.
However, AGFA (American Genre Film Archive) in conjunction with Something Weird Video, released a blu titled 'The Scare Film Archives Volume 1: Drug Stories!' that contains a whopping 288 minutes of drug-scare films and PSA's. You might very well find what you are looking for there.
