Hello! Going to be upfront, I’m new to the LMW forum so please bear with me if I miss anything or if this isn’t quite the right place for this thread.
While helping out with the search for the Nicktoons Zombified bumpers, I was reminded of another set of Nickelodeon Halloween bumpers that I’ve tried to find off and on for years with no luck. I’m starting to think that they, too, are lost media and I wanted to see what folks here might be able to dig up.
During October 2007, Nickelodeon branded its Halloween celebration as Shocktober. During this, the channel aired bumpers that featured art of its various Nicktoons characters as various Halloween monster staples. To my memory, the bumpers consisted of various pans over the art, followed by the full image alongside the “Shocktober” branding. I don’t remember what audio accompanied the bumpers, if it was just spooky music or if something was spoken.
I remember the art being really cool, but I don’t remember what ANY of them looked like, except Aang and Katara (and even then, I remembered Katara being a vampire, when really she was apparently a spirit). I couldn’t even remember what characters were included beyond characters from Avatar and SpongeBob.
Here’s what I’ve been able to find so far in my own research:
I know they aired in 2007 because I found posts I had made online in 2007 talking about the Aang and Katara bumpers.
I have tried various times to find the bumpers on YouTube, to no success. When searching for Zombified, I was also on the lookout for Shocktober stuff.
I found posts from 2007 on a forum for an old Avatar fansite that discussed the Avatar bumpers, including an image of the Aang one:

Nickelodeon apparently re-used the Shocktober branding in 2008, so there may have been similar bumpers that year as well. The article I found discussing it also had an image of the SpongeBob Shocktober art:

In what was my biggest and yet most disappointing discovery, through my own fuzzy memories of my 2000’s internet habits taking me through archives of unexpected sites, I FOUND THE WEBSITE OF SOMEONE WHO WORKED ON THE BUMPERS! Unfortunately, the site no longer exists. Fortunately, the Wayback Machine has captures of it, including a blog post about the Shocktober art! Unfortunately again, the Wayback Machine apparently didn’t save the actual images, and all of his social media mentioned on the site appears to have been deactivated.

Even without the images, there’s some interesting info on the blog:
It does give names of other people involved, but I don’t know the first thing about finding contact info for stuff like this, much less actually reaching out.
The image names give us an idea of what some of them were: TakWolf, SpongeBob, Sokka, Samula, Plankton, Patrick, KataraGhost, JeeraGhoul, Squidward, Peck, and CosmoFly.
Spongebob is presumably the same as the one from the previous article, and Sokka and Katara are included with the shirts I found below. It seems that Tak from Tak and the Power of Juju was drawn as a wolf or werewolf, Jeera (unfamiliar with the character) was a ghoul, and Cosmo from FOP was some kind of fly hybrid. I don’t know if Samula is a character I don’t recognize, or if it’s a Sam-Dracula; I’m unfamiliar with Peck, and the rest are SpongeBob characters.
(How I found the site is kinda a long story and I assume not fully relevant, but I can tell it later if anyone’s curious or thinks it can help.)
Strangely, I was able to find shirts with the Avatar Shocktober images printed on them being sold print-to-order by Hot Topic (and Box Lunch, same parent company). Aang matches the screenshot above, and Katara matches my memory of what I saw as a kid that I mistook as a vampire Katara on a quick glance. I couldn’t find any non-Avatar characters with their Shocktober art on Hot Topic or Box Lunch merch.

So that’s what I’ve dug up so far. Honestly, I just want to be able to see and appreciate the art made for these bumpers again, and see if I do actually remember more than just the two Avatar ones I saw and posted about online fifteen years ago. But it would be really cool to have another set of Nickelodeon commercial bumpers marked off the list as found.
EDIT:
I have made a Google Doc to keep track of the known bumpers, art, and mentions:

And a shout-out to oscarpro83 who was the one who found half of the stuff in that doc including footage of one of the bumpers!
