OMG, that was MY PBS station!! I watched s1 on it too, and Keiko and Alisa were also my favorites (along with Pablo)! Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about the season?
No promises that I have the answers, but go ahead.
So did you watch it in late 1999? Apparently the schedule was really weird when it first started airing on that station. On most stations, the show would air its episodes in increments of 4 episodes, meaning some of the same episodes would air the next week. But according to research I’ve done, though, KCTS just aired the entire season in a row, not repeating any episodes until it had been run through entirely. It wasn’t until season 2 premiered in January 2000 that KCTS supposedly start following the same schedule as other stations and air the season in increments of 4 episodes.
I watched season 1 in late 1999 and I don’t remember the 4-episodes-played-twice-in-a-row thing being introduced when season 2 premiered, so I’m wondering if that sounds familiar to you.
Also, I have a weird memory of Alisa not being in season 2 for the first few episodes when s2 aired on my station. I’m sure it’s just Mandela effect, but does that sound at all familiar?
Holy shit. I never thought the day would come. What a momentous find.
I always wondered why the show was never re-released on home video besides the two VHS tapes ("Making of Zoom" and "Party with Zoom").
I watched the Zoom reboot on KCTS 9 (which was a common sight on cable systems here in British Columbia). Season 1 was far and away my favourite season. The cast gelled so well together, and I crushed hard on Keiko and Alisa.br]

When I was in kindergarten, my teacher had these “poster stories” that were on a wall, they were like 5 posters that each had a verse of a poem that told a story. These went with an audio cassette that featured the stories as a song set to music (some of the cassettes would feature additional tunes). We’d play them every day. I recently tried looking them up, without success.
I don’t remember many of the titles, but I know there was a Halloween themed one called “Look Out” that was one of my favorites.
I also remember that in addition to the posters, there was also a book version of one of them. It had a an audio cassette that went with it that had the same song, but with a very different arrangement, curiously. I preferred the one that went with the posters. Unfortunately when I returned to the place for the 1st grade the next year our teacher only had the recording that went with the book, the original was being borrowed (?) by some other teacher at a different school. I was hoping the original would be online, at least.

I’ve already made a post about the missing OOTB eps, but I wanted to make one about a specific ep I remember seeing in which Vivian was absent. For a while I assumed I was thinking of the episode Revealing Feelings from season 2 and had simply mixed up which host was absent. However, in the one I remember, the goodbye song happened without any of the kids, as it does in Revealing Feelings, so I know I didn’t get it mixed up.
Does anyone else remember seeing the episode where Tony was the only adult present? I’ve hardly found anyone who has been able to back up this memory, I even talked to Viv on Instagram and she said she didn’t remember ever missing an episode. But I’m positive about what I saw.
On a side note, you might notice Wikipedia’s description for the episode, is something I wrote a while back and so it’s not something that should be backed up as fact.
Hello, so I am in a discord server associated with the Twitter account Out of Context Theater Recorded Bootlegs. And they have a Spreadsheet of many TRBs (Theater Recorded Bootlegs), so I checked the The Cat in The Hat TS and it is like that in the video itself, so it is not the uploader.
if you want the link to the bootleg just say so.
Oh nice! I think I messaged you on Twitter about this. I’m BirdOfPrey12 on there.
Why would something have been edited out? It seems odd.
Possibly the bootlegger trying to hide the fact that it was recorded in a cinema.
I guess it’s the bootlegger who might know. But it’s been so long. I actually saw TCITH in theaters and the trailers on the bootleg seem to line up with what I remember. So it’s entirely possible I saw the clip myself, even though I have no memory of it.
That error is infamous in the logo community because it only appeared on the Wet Painters/Krusty Krab Training Video episode during split screen credits until around 2006 when they finally fixed it.
Rumours about it circulated online for years but it took a while for footage to surface because the user that originally posted it was apparently scared of the logo.
That makes sense, as I noticed that the Krusty Krab Training Video episode ending played before both those credits I linked. Thanks for sharing that. It’s crazy it took until around 2006 to get fixed.
Yeah, I remember reading that it was fixed in 2006. Oddly enough, the same year you mentioned seeing the foghorn version.
I’ve been looking through some splitscreen credits as well and came across something strange. At the end of these SpongeBob credits, it seems a mistake was made and the Klasky Csupo logo was shown instead of the United Plankton Pictures logo.
Oh yeah. That’s a pretty well-known glitch that occurred with one specific episode.
Which again, makes me pretty sure that the foghorn version wasn’t attached to a specific episode, no one has ever said anything about there being a pattern there.
i want to add that my best guess is that it was used in the early episodes of season 2 or late season 1 epsiodes
I’ve gone through commercial breaks from around then and all I can find is the version with the credits music playing over it, or something from the splitscreen promo continuing over it (in one case, “Who let the dogs out” continues playing over it). From what I can tell, the waves/seagulls version didn’t premiere until s3.
