Sorry for not keeping you guys more in the loop, I posted about it in the Discord but I should have done so here too, and I'm going to try and spend a lot more time working on the forums from now on as well - we had a site upgrade done, as well as a change in host (plus some unexpected forums downtime as a result of this change and the forums' old domain redirection settings) as we are preparing to put ads on the wiki soon (don't worry, nothing intrusive or annoying, just 4 banner ads - one at the top, bottom and each sidebar). That is why all the weirdness was occurring but it should be back to normal now. If you notice some weirdness still, please let me know
So... uh, care to explain how this isn't fine, but Cracks, Mister Rogers' Conflict, Akka Arrh, and the many, many other instances of leaks are fine in the wiki? I'm curious on why this gets the more extreme approach compared to the other instances.
If I'm not mistaken, when recorded clips of this episode leaked about a year or two ago, the dude who made the leaks said they were attributed to the LMW. This actually got the LMW in legal trouble and they had to do a lot in order to make it clear they had no involvement with the leaks. I'm guessing since this same episode was fully leaked, they don't wanna take any chances with sharing/spreading the leaked episode due to it potentially getting them in further legal trouble.
I may be wrong, someone else probably could explain it better than I can.
This is exactly why we are taking extra precautions, yes (for clarification, we didn't actually face any legal repercussions for the misattributed 2019 leak, but it still was not a fun time for those involved to get that all sorted out).
I've made it very clear on the wiki, the forums AND the Discord that links to the episode are not to be shared anywhere across the LMW community. That is why I necro'd this thread - to make sure everybody knew of this development before people started posting links and potentially getting themselves or us in hot water. I needed to make this point clear across all facets of the LMW, so in that regard I don't think I've been drastic in my actions. Yeah, I guess I could have made a new thread, but... Why? Then we'd have 3 threads on the same topic :/
I would also like to take this opportunity to clear up a potential misconception - we at the LMW have nothing to do with the lostmedia subreddit; they are completely separate projects by completely separate groups of people.
Admin note: DO NOT attempt to share links to the episode ANYWHERE on the LMW (including the wiki itself and Discord server). There is a reason the article was locked and comments removed, and its for yours and our legal safety. Furthermore, we DO NOT want another instance of a leak being misattibuted to us and bringing all the drama that comes with that. Thank you.

All credit goes to Junkie’s Tape Bin, who originally uploaded it on their YouTube channel in this compilation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwBRhv-YiYw (please take a few seconds to give their video a like, they deserve it 👍)
I noticed when you asked me about the rules that there really isn't a place on the forum stating a code of conduct for me to point you to. So, to some extent, it is indeed a shortcoming of the board itself that you wouldn't know what's frowned upon and what isn't.
You make a very valid point, the forums need a separate rule list. I will get working on one as soon as I can.
theCarbonFreeze has agreed to take on the role of moderator for this board to make sure this thread is kept drama free and by the rules (and we thank her for it 🙏)
Since a post was deleted, my last post got pushed back to the prior page and I just wanna make people very aware of it: there are to be NO MORE attempts to contact people related to NSFL cases. If we see you do it, you're out.
I have to ask the mods: is it really worth hosting this conversation that clearly upsets so many people on and off the forum, in order to placate people like Junkie? Is it worth sowing discord and lumping us all in with the harassment these parasites are conducting just to find a 2 minute death video? I think it's a poison pill, and if the tape is ever found it'll be a pyrric victory at best.
Earlier in the thread, dycaite said words to the effect of "a lot of people come here to discuss the tape tho," as though the attention is a positive. I say it is not a positive when the people who come here are so unscrupulous. It looks like the mods approve of this behavior in the absence of any declaration to the contrary, and especially with the non-enforcement of the rules as pointed out by nostalgiaguy. That leaves a real bad taste in my mouth.
Not meaning to say it was a positive thing at all, it's just a fact; it's always been at the top of the most viewed pages... Morbid curiosity is a draw of the wiki and it always has been, like it or not. If we suddenly forbid people to discuss articles that we have on the site entirely, then we more than dip our toes into censorship territory, and I can see the backlash from that being much worse than the current situation. I'm just trying to take the path of least drama here... We thought having a single outlet on the forums to do that would suffice, but perhaps it's time we looked into another approach...
Also, we deleted the comment with links as soon as one of us saw it - Next time if you see something like this, please let us know on Discord or somewhere immediate so we can deal with it, well, immediately. It's no good saying "admins didn't delete this" when we don't even know about it yet... We're a small team and we rely on you guys to help point this stuff out to us sometimes.
Like it or not, a lot of people in the community are here because they want to talk about it. Denying them the right to do so entirely would only cause them to act out and talk about it even more. We're limiting it to a single thread for the entirety of the LMW community; I think that is a fair compromise.
There is also a new rule regarding found NSFL content - none of it is to be posted anywhere in the LMW community (no exceptions). You can talk about found NSFL media, but there are to be no more links, whatsoever.
Furthermore and to clarify: there are to be no more links posted in this thread, whatsoever.
We've unlocked this thread with the caveat that it is now to be the only place in the LMW community to talk about Christine Chubbuck. Please do not discuss it on the Discord from this point on.
