Hi ! Sorry if my english isn't perfect, I'm french.
When I was a child, my brother and I played a game that my father probably downloaded on Emule (yes, it's preeeeetty old). It was a... Dancing/rhythm game I believe.
The only thing I remember about that game is the model of two characters, a little boy and an adult cowboy. I also remember one of the cowboy's sentence when you didn't play the game well, but since it was in french I don't know if it can help since well... Maybe this sentence isn't the same in english you know, maybe it wasn't translated well, maybe it was totally changed.
This is the only thing I remember about that game, but I know that I played it. My brother remember this game as well, but told me that he remembers the model of a female character (which doen't help that much), and he also stated that he doesn't believe our father downloaded it on Emule. But that's not really important, I think.
I search this game for so long, and I know I don't have a lot of details about it, my memories are so fuzzy, like I said, I played it when I was young, really young. Last year I asked this forum but received not a lot of help. I also asked for help in the Discord server, a few answers, games suggestions, but not much, and I even asked Reddit about it. Do you guys can help me please ?
Here's some another details :
- Like I said, the game was translated in french. I don't know if the game is from France or Europe though. - Game isn't Bust a Groove. - The models of the characters were "realistic", this wasn't cartoony or anything.
The only thing I could find that was kinda simmilar is a game called Dance Magic, but I think it may be too modern. If it was downloaded on Emule, I would guess the game was from the 90s to early 2000s. Maybe it was Stepmania? That was pretty popular back then, and I believe had a few translations.
Do you remember how the gameplay was? Did you follow arrows, or other buttons? Things like that? Cause those elements could be what makes it easier to figure out what game this is.

Thanks for your answer !
Nope, I just checked, it isn't Dance Magic or Stepmania !
Well... Here's the weird part... I don't remember. I don't remember how I played the game, I try my best to think about it, but I don't remember any arrows, buttons, or things you see in these types of games. The only thing I remember are the characters dancing (there were some backgrounds, but again, I don't remember much about it).
I had a theory, like, it's a France-Europa exclusive, and obscure, game, and that's why I find nothing about it on the Internet. I also checked videogames websites, YouTube videos like "100 PC games of our childhood", things like that, but nothing. And I'm sure, I KNOW, I played this game.

It may be very possible it had nothing to do with rhythm games and was instead something entirely different, then. I'm sorry I can't help much more with your search, I will guess you don't have that old computer or a saved copy of the game. Good luck and I hope you're able to find it!

Yes, I thought about that as well ! Maybe it was... Kinda these types of "games" where there's really nothing, you just see the characters dancing without doing anything specifically, kinda like a program more than a game !
Sadly no, I asked my father several times and everytime he told me that he doesn't have any copy or backup of our old computer...
Thank you ! I search this game since I'm 13 (I'm now 24), but I'm still hoping to find it one day !

Long shot, but could it be R2Single? It's easily downloadable, and widely translated. I don't know about French, but it's definitely popular in Spanish-speaking regions:
Not sure on this one but I can see this being a minigame inside a game, do you remember anything what the characters looked like?
Mmh, a mini-game ? I'm not sure, but I can't tell your idea is wrong either !
Okay so, for the characters... In my memory, I ALWAYS depicted the cowboy character by HEAVILY looking like Woody from Toy Story. I'm pretty sure the game have no connection to Toy Story tho. The boy character, as far as I remember, had a blue-greenish shirt and blond hair. He had a pretty unimaginative design.
Omnirabbit : Mmh, no, it isn't this game, but thanks !
I'm pretty sure the game looked like it was out in the late 1990s, maybe early 2000s ?
well sounds like this isn't a licensed game (or if it is it's not a popular franchise). If it looks like woody from toy story, then that at least narrows it down to probably being a male cowboy. hopefully we can get more people into this search cause this is very interesting and doesn't really sound like one of those fake ones cause you're going really in depth so if this is a hoax it's a really well made one. but yeah, seriously doubt this is a hoax
This game is one the two videogames of my childhood that I've been looking for in years (the second being Voodoo Kid, I finally found a video of it last year, and it gave me hope to finally find this dancing game).
I swear, it's kinda haunt me for years now ? Not that this game was a very important of my childhood, but I know it existed, I know I played it, and the fact that I can't find it really drive me crazy xD
It's not even a "Lost Media", but it's the only place that can help me I think. I already appreciate all the things you did for me guys, I mean it !

About what you said "it's not a popular franchise" I'm pretty sure that's the case, I'm convinced it's kinda obscure and even mediocre.
The thing is, game was translated in french, which is... Kinda weird for a not well know game ? That's why I think it might be french or european, which can make the search even more difficult.
Well, thanks everyone for your help, I really mean it !
I don't think The Lost Media Wiki is able to help me with that, but once again, thank you for your help everyone ! I'll refine my research and if one day I finally found this game, I'll let you know !
