Sorry if this belongs in either the "Found media" or "Lesser known media" forums...
I got torrents working again, and found one on MySpleen that has the original May 12, 2001 airing of the Pokémon episode "Hot Matches!" The episode was followed by the world premiere of the music video for "Pokérap GS," so the episode itself was trimmed down to make time for it. It looks like the whole episode itself is present, and I've been looking for this particular edited version for a while, so that's great, but...while the music video is also present, the person recording skipped most of the commercial breaks, so it starts several seconds in. The video is included as a bonus feature on the original DVD release of the third movie, so why is this a problem? Well, it turns out this particular version of the video is different. Specifically, the visuals when "Pokémon" is spelled out. The DVD version almost always just splits up each letter from the Pokémon logo and flashes them on the screen against a black or yellow background, while the TV version is different every time, using various fonts, and puts them against various different backdrops, including some animated scenes from episodes.
I've made a graphic demonstrating this. To the left is the DVD version, to the right is the TV version. Both sets of screencaps comes from the exact same line from the exact same point in each version. The progress is top to bottom, with the order of the chants being P → o → k → é → m → o → n → Po → ké → mon.
Each frame is full DVD resolution, so beware: it's a very big image. And the TV version doesn't split up the syllables at the end in this particular instance, so I repeated the same frame three times.
The DVD version seems kind of plain in comparison, so it's a shame the TV version is partially lost. The Unown font over the planet is just one of the various different ways they do it.
So yeah, a previously unavailable version of the music video was found, but not the whole thing. Sigh...
