Masq is a simple choose-your-own-adventure style game first released in 2002 and (I think) released episodically? The creator's description is:
Masq is set in an edgy, erotically-charged world of gorgeous fashion models and dangerous mobsters. As the protagonist of the story, you can be to be a hero, a villain or anything in-between. You can replay Masq over and over and experience an unprecedented variety of plot twists and endings including murder, sex, betrayal and yes...even love. The twist is, in Masq...it’s all up to you!
The game .exe is downloadable from the Wayback machine but only a preview of the game is playable because the game has some sort of online-only DRM that checks with the (now-defunct) website before running.
I wouldn't have normally thought this game was anything special and even bothered to make an entry for it here except for the fact that this game appears to have been somewhat popular and well-received, at least within specific circles. Bizarrely, this game once appeared on PC Gamer's 100 Top PC Games of All Time () and I've seen people call it a precursor to Telltale's story-based games.
