So until recently, interstitials from CBC Kids during 2003-7 were incredibly rare. Fortunately, some from October 2004 recently appeared online. I’m hoping we’ll see more from the 2003-5 era, particularly the “Dot and TV” era of late 2003. But what’s still impossible to find online are clips from the “garden dome” era of 2005-7. If anyone has any of those, they should definitely be uploaded as soon as possible.

I used to watch CBC Kids, and it’s sad to see that some of the interstitials are lost. I remember the Dot era and the garden dome era.. I mostly watched Treehouse TV down at my grandparents’ place, but my parents didn’t have cable, so I would always watch Kids’ CBC and PBS Kids. Good times….

It was uploaded way back in about 2010 by Jamie Waese, someone who worked on it. I don’t exactly remember how long this era lasted, but I seem to recall some revamping after the first few months that made me lose interest. Which was too bad since I really liked that era of the block.

I found this on Wikipedia’s earliest version of the CBC Kids block history:
“ In 2003, GSFL tried a whole new idea; while Alyson and Michael were national hosts, regional hosts were placed abroad all over Canada (except for Alberta). However, the new GSFL lasted only to the end of 2003. 2004 saw a new block, called Kid's CBC, take the place of Get Set For Life on CBC. Despite the fact that Alyson and Michael had been replaced, and the studio sets had been drastically changed, traces of Get Set For Life were still obvious. The little child seen in the GSFL logo was slightly redesigned and turned into a separate animated character called Dot, and the GSFL theme song and opening sequence was rewritten and reshot. The regional and national host format was revived, but only two hosts from GSFL, Kush Uppal and Patty Sullivan (who was promoted to a national host), stayed on the programming block.”
This isn’t entirely accurate: the rewrite of the GSFL theme song and the brand “kids CBC” debuted when the regional host idea started (it’s what’s seen at the beginning of the video I posted). Secondly, the other regional hosts didn’t leave the block at that point, they were just seldom shown. Also, I saw an interstitial in which Michael from GSFL appeared with Patty that was aired after the regional host era, but maybe it was just an interstitial they kept from that era. I wish I’d payed more attention to the block during that time period, since it doesn’t appear to have been documented very well (I can’t even access the website from that time with Wayback because it required a flash player or something, so I don’t know if any of the info from it is still available). So hopefully more recordings turn up.
I remember See the Sea, a lost interstitial from 2007-2008. Does anyone here remember this?
I remember seeing that on our schedule listings in more like 2015, so I guess it ran for longer.
Anyways, since I last posted here, it seems some progress has been made, there’s I believe been a little more uploaded from about 2004-5, but nothing from the “garden” era and also nothing from the “Dot in the TV” era, which seemingly lasted only to the end of 2003.
