"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" Missing Scene?

Hi everyone,
As a kid, we'd watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on 6ABC in Philadelphia. We had a recorded copy from the TV that I swear up and down had a slightly different start, specifically a scene where the Griswolds get run off the road and end up at a tree lot.
Red Foxx is running the tree lot but the prices are too high and this is the impetus for Clark to lead the Griswolds into the woods to hand dig up the tree.
I have searched the Internet for information and a handful of people swear they saw this on TV but not in the theater or VHS/DVD. The only evidence I have heard of is the 1997 first DVD release of the movie having a still of the scene when you opened the paper box.
Anyone else remember this or am I going crazy?
