Opened around November 2004, The Mario Megasite was a web portal that acts as a information point. It once belonged to ms.nintendo-europe.com/mario/enGB/index.html (as well as a redirect at mario.nintendo.co.uk) and had at once point been archived on the Wayback Machine on archive.org from the 1st September 2013 but it has since been excluded on the site.
I been looking for images to accompany this post but I can't find any anywhere, I have my memory of the site though so you have something to go off of. On page load you would be introduced to loading screen of Mario sliding down a pole with the sky in the background and the loading percentage to the side. I recall the image used was this piece of SM64 promotional art. The site would then load panning towards a TV, the room is Nintendo themed and the artwork of the TV is from my memory unique to this site and based on a retro CRT. The TV would turn on and unique voice lines from Charles Martinet's Mario voice would welcome us to the Mario Megasite. You have a remote to change "channels" which takes you to different areas of the site. I recall one page being a World Map of the entire Mario world showing off places such as Delfino Island, Rogueport, the Beanbean Kingdom as well as other places. Another page was a A to Z of Mario (D was for Dungarees I recall). Reddit User U/EeveesGalore also has memories of the site.
On a personal note it was once one of my favourite sites to visit in my early teen years. A few years ago in 2017 someone on Reddit linked to a Vice article about Skelux's flash game recovery efforts and I commented about the site, quite a few people responded knowing the site and it showed that there is definitely a interest for quite a few people to see this website preserved.
I've done everything I think I can do to try and preserve this piece of Nintendo's history. I'll hand it over to you guys because I am hitting a brick wall here.
