Pfizer published this advergame to promote Viagra. Based on the only image I can find of it, it played through a vertical banner ad at the side of a web page (you had to hover the cursor over to play it). You ride on a motorcycle over a desert road on your way to a romantic date, and on the way you pick up gifts such as roses, gift boxes and scented candles, as well as little blue pills.
There was apparently a lot of media backlash and Pfizer pulled the ads in 2008. I don’t know if they were actually launched that year, but they seem to have been pulled pretty quickly. I don’t know what they ran on, but I would assume Flash, given the time period, though I’ve never been able to find SWFs for the game.
Do you have any news articles covering this, while I doubt we can find the game we may be able to find some screenshots. A Viagra browser game is an odd marketing technique, are you sure it wasn't one of those smiling Bob rip offs... Not that I would know if they are scams just assuming...
Apparently it wasn’t media backlash, but the FDA had a problem with the type of advertising.
This is such an odd game I want to play it. Although it is likely a fairly standard reskin of a bad browser game, this concept is so odd. The news article included a screengrab
I wonder if the advertising was internal or the result of a marketing company.
