A few years back, I went to look up an old commercial from my childhood that I was telling a friend about (we were discussing old commercials), but upon Googling it, I couldn't find any trace of the ad, nor anyone else who remembered it... Which, naturally, made me want to find it 😅 (mainly for shits and giggles, but you know how it is with stuff you remember but can't find)...
I ended up bringing it up on the LMW Discord some time ago, but now that the initial wave of embarrassment for searching for an ad with a naked dude's ass in it has worn off (lol), I figured I'd post it here too.
The details in my head are vague but the reason the commercial stood out to me was because it was the first time I had experienced a commercial being censored.
Anyway, this is the ad and my experience with it (I saw it in NSW, Australia; it would have been between the mid 1990s to the early 2000s):
The ad was for a bakery (Baker's Delight, Brumby's, something like that) and it showed a naked man walking through it (censored Austin Powers style with various baked goods), with everyone gasping in shock. It ended with a behind shot of him leaving, bare ass included (I remember this version being aired late at night). The censored version was much the same, but the final shot was either missing entirely, or had a mosaic blur, I don't fully remember (I'm leaning towards mosaic blur). What I do remember are my friends at the time not believing me that the uncensored version existed - so we had a sleepover and stayed up all night trying to catch it, from memory we weren't successful.
Do any Australians here remember this at all, or have I just made an ass out of myself in posting about it? (no pun intended) 🤣
