Many years ago (it could even be 25 years ago) I watched a tv show, which really made me sad. It was about a young girl who lost both of her parents and is then adopted by an evil woman. I remember the time period and the costumes were sort in the style of "Anne of Green Gables". The girl also has a cat and is forbidden to take with her to the new house. Which brings me to the scene that really broke my heart.
The scene in question is when a girl and the evil woman are traveling via a carriage in the woods and the girl tries to hide her cat behind her sweater. However, the evil woman hears the cat meowing and forcefully takes the cat from the crying girl, and throws it out of the carriage, while the girl keeps on sobbing. The final shot shows that cat is following the carriage and the episode ends. I would really like to find out the name of the tv series, to check out what happened next. I know that it has been a long time, but that scene really stuck with me, being a cat lover and all. I would be really grateful, for any help in finding this tv show.
Never seen Anne of Green Gables, but it says it was supposed to take place in 1970-1880, so the fashion would be Victorian. I'm going to assume it's a period drama aimed at children & not adults.
Avonlea would have been on around that time, but Disney would also be airing reruns of "The Three Lives of Thomasina," which nails the period, the orhan girl, & the cat.
Thank you very much for the reply. I checked the "The Three Lives of Thomasina" and "Avonlea" and unfortunately it is not what I am looking for. But thanks again for the reply.
