Potential lost/(un)produced additional Mixels TV episodes

New theory: after some additional research, there may actually have been ten possible combinations of the production code. This resulted in a third unused code, which is 501-296-000. I'm not sure, however, if this code is actually a valid one, and if so, if it was used at all - if it was, it probably may have been used for a demo reel by Vincenzo Zumpano, who was an animator for the cartoon in Season 1 and the first Season 2 special Mixel Moon Madness (after that one, the show began using different animation facilities).

The production codes for the specials are irregular and only follow what they're marketed for (600 is called the Wave 6 Special in some countries even though they introduce Wave 5's characters as well, same with 900/Wave 9 Special and Wave 8's characters), so almost definitely I'm turning down any idea that 500 and 800 were used at all. They might have tossed around some ideas for individual 5/6 and 8/9 specials but nothing truly "lost" there most likely.

The Wave 4 shorts' codes mostly follow a pattern - 401 is on its own because that short is the backbone of the special's story, the long, 9-minute episode that sets the plot while the ones in the 410s all assist it while working on their own as standalone shorts. The 420s are merely vignettes and transition animations which does, in fact, leave a lot of room for produced & scrapped content given the irregularity of them (424 being skipped, though I'm not sure about 426-429 they could be as well.)

The shorts era truly is something else though - given everything is short-form, and the earlier comments about production being rushed, I wouldn't put down the idea that 03D/05B-05H were produced or scrapped. The article claims that 300 is for all of the Calling All Mixels cutscenes, but keep in mind that that app was split into updates, so a few of the earlier cutscenes could be produced under one of those codes.

The only other thing I can note is that some time before the Mixels Flash website went down, I had grabbed the swf files for some seemingly unused mix combinations. Of course because swf files sure are something I haven't really been able to see what they look like but there are some new designs & animations connected to them so it's possible some stories/shorts could have been conceived with these or other mix/murp designs that were used on the site but didn't make the cut.

So it's possible and worth looking into, but I would definitely keep a note that there's really nothing implying that anything's behind 500 and 800. The thing with those codes is that 701-XXX is CN's specials & other separate productions thing - It's really the second part that defines the special more while the third code is just a definer for the production within. Ex. Quest for the Mixamajig is 701-029, Every Knight Has Its Day is 701-030, and I think...701-031 was like, Regular Show's movie? So the irregularity of the skip from 400 to 600 is, as I said, mostly just from what they're being produced for.

Well, I guess when it comes to the shorts there may be some potential cut short after all! Kevin Manthei (composer for Season 1) recently put up the episode scores on his Soundcloud. The 02A-D track includes the compiled scores for all of 02A (Pothole) to, actually, 02F (Hot Lava Shower), and, interestingly - a completely unheard track from around the 6 minute mark to the end:

Seeing as all of these are episode scores rather than stray tracks, and that this is the only part that's completely new - not just as music, but as a full episode score that has an opening and ending cue like most other shorts - it's pretty clear that there's something lost here.

A while back when the show was running, this description got leaked on EPG listings for an unrelated episode: "Impromptu jam session attracts the attention of a new tribe." Seeing as, in production order, this is suggestively 02G, or the last of the Series 1 shorts, it's likely this could apply both in "the attention of a new tribe" (first appearance of Series 2, as opposed to the one that comes after, Wrong Colors) as well as the "impromptu jam session" coming together with the different music styles in this lost episode's score, which leads me to believe this might be what the short is.

That just leaves the question of, just how much was produced of this short? Clearly it must have been a late cut given its inclusion in Manthei's playlist, and like I said earlier, there's no passing down the idea that stuff could've gone late into production in the short style format. Going off the score's length the short was likely 0:45-1:00 (though there's no 0:45 Mixels shorts so likely the latter).

What do you guys think? Given the likeliness now that there's some sort of near-finished but lost Mixels episode I'd certainly like to do more investigating on this.
