Nickelodeon commissioned eight pilots in 1990 to start the Nicktoons franchise. They planned to take the best four pilots and premiere them as full-fledged series in August 1991, though they ended up picking only three. Those were: "Doug Can't Dance" by Jim Jinkins at Jumbo Pictures, pilot for Doug. "Tommy Pickles and the Great White Thing" by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain at Klasky-Csupo, pilot for Rugrats. "Ren Höek and Stimpy in Big House Blues" by John Kricfalusi at Spümcø, pilot for The Ren & Stimpy Show.
Of these, only "Thunder Lizards" has resurfaced, and is viewable here. All of the studios that produced the others seem to have folded, so contact information would be hard to come by.
(Until this month, the Wikipedia article for the Rugrats pilot said that the series had two other pilots as well, and both remain unreleased. I wonder where that came from...)
