So, most of you (who watched Treehouse TV as a kid) probably remember "Crazy Quilt". It's the show with the lady and the raccoon making crafts while telling stories. It was a cool little show that originally aired from 1997 to 1999, with reruns until 2011. There's like 6 or 7 episodes on the YouTube channel Kaylor Blakley.
What most people don't remember though is that when the show launched in 1997, it instead had a different host and a full body costumed tiger. It was really weird and didn't feel like Crazy Quilt. The ones with Maggie & Jackson had a much darker atmosphere than this one it seems. Travis Doucette uploaded YouTube video of an original Treehouse promo from 1997 of this original version (it was uploaded around 2013). Here it is.
I have no specific memory of it but I'm sure I would have watched it since I would have been 6 in 1997. One thing I do remember is an earlier version of Freaky Stories where the cockroach was white instead of blue. That isn't relevant to this thread but that show's mostly lost too and I don't think there's any of the original version surviving so I sometimes wonder if my brain just made it up. I think he was hosting in a graveyard instead of a diner.
Anyway, I did watch Crazy Quilt as a kid and I'm sure I would have seen the original version at the time, but I don't remember it.
I only learned about it recently when I saw the commercial on YouTube. I was surprised since I had only ever seen the raccoon puppet and never knew the show had a tiger as well.
Possibly, since the promo was from before Treehouse TV actually launched, and was maybe used to promote the channel. It's possible the show hadn't been finished when they did the ad. Good catch

It's kind of old but I hope someone here is still interested.
This ad for Treehouse TV was not a pilot. It was at least a whole season of Crazy Quilt.
The tiger was Spot and the woman was Zoey.
I remember a few things; The beginning did not have the blanket come down and the boxes like at the beginning of the episodes featuring Maggie and the Raccoon.
Zoey and Spot did crafts under a giant table, and in one episode had the piller-like table leg decorated with streamers.
Another episode began with Spot running around trying to catch invisible "flutter-byes" before they got into the crafting.
Another episode had ornate black and white windows and doors cut out of magazines and attached to boxes instead of drawing your own (I tried this myself back then - the results we not quite the same)
Finally - and this is the main one, I actually had it recorded on a VHS tape. There was one episode where the story they told with the crafts was one of some poor people who meet a genie (I think) and make wishes for more and more stuff until the genie gets fed up and all their nice thingd go back to what they had before they met the genie. I remember because when they showed the washbucket had holes, they used sand and it poured out of the holes. (Made out of a plastic cup) When the genie gave them a new one, it was gold... with no holes.
____________________________ I *think* beginning on the first day of public school in Sept. 1998, 1999 or perhaps 2000, the change was made to Maggie and the raccoon puppet. I remember my sister told me (and we did not like them as much as Spot and Zoey....)
On this day, whichever year it was, other changed were made on Treehouse, for example the bark on the tree in Ants in you Pants was darker, Jane-Saw's voice was different and the ants were less evil...
Anyhow, until this 30 second video appeared, no one believed me that Crazy Quilt had a blonde woman and a tiger.
What is bizarre to me is that there is literally zero information on these episodes featuring Spot and Zoey. All info just says Maggie and the raccoon.
I wish I still had that VHS I had taped.
All in all, there were actual episodes that existed and aired. Both me and my sister remember.
One last thing, I am 99% sure her name was Zoey. The small doubt comes because the blonde girl from Zoom was also Zoey....

Thank you for the information. I’m sure we can find these episodes someday. I actually don’t remember seeing this show on Treehouse, but I have heard of it.

What I find weird is that after 1998 (the first Maggie & Jackson ones have a copyright date of 1998), they pretty much tried to make people completely forget about this version. The reason why most people don't remember is because they completely wiped it out of the public eye.
Very interesting. I’ve only ever seen the Maggie & Jackson episodes. Now that you mention the changes of other early Treehouse shows, the changing of Clarence and several set pieces in My Special Book’s second season make a lot more sense.

I tried just quoting Canadianchildhood's response, it was a mess
Anyway, Yeah I also find it bizarre that it is totally wiped. Even this short clip on Youtube is the Treehouse advertisement for the show, not a clip of the actual show playing.... Usually for obscure things you can find stills or screenshots (or text descriptions). The description in the video says for Calgary viewers. Maybe that does not mean anything, or perhaps this only aired in some places? I lived in the Calgary area at that time. I will post anything I remember about crazy quilt and treehouse
