HEY, so i have a major update on the UCLA ROUTE. I was able to meet up with a current student and she went in and requested the video. They told her they would email her as its not at their library location. The response in red is what they (the librarians) wrote back her.
Hi (student),
Thanks for this additional information.
The URL points to an item that is actually part, more specifically, of UCLA’s Film and Television Archive.
Based on the record, this is a special item that, as a “conservation copy” and a “non-circulating research copy”, will not circulate. The risk of loss has been deemed too high.
I would suggest you use the contact link to the “Archive Research and Study Center” for more assistance. They are the experts for items like this and may know of an option for you. (Beyond a quick Google search that suggests parts of the video are online, but nothing in full.)
Good luck!
So what this at least tells us is that a student at UCLA cannot gain access to it. Sucks as this would have been the easiest way.
Wait, but it isn't preserved if it is stuck on a VHS tape that is slowly degrading. The only way to preserve it is to scan the contents and upload it to a place where it can be experienced by all (the internet)
Well, out of all the places i trust the UCLA film archive has proper storage systems set in place (temperature controlled ect.) . We know that the Tape is stored on a U-Matic Format (which has "sticky shed" issues) and that they dont know what they have and dont really care about sharing it, archives are very weird and protective. I will talk to a few people i know who have degree's and jobs in archival studies, and see if they have any suggestions on how to retrieve the tape.
I'll look over the weekend. I received a dvd of this about 8 or 10 years ago. Traded some rare Saturday Supercade episodes for it. I remember the quality being awful and from a beatup tape, but I do have some segments.

awesome news man, there are tons of people who are greatly interested in getting that footage. Its a been a project for quite some time to find anything on this. Id actually look at getting all of your DVDRs ripped digitally. Ive lost a lot of CD and DVD media from age and the film pealing off and scratches. I have better luck with old Tapes than i have with CDs and DVDs as far as retention goes. good luck and god speed!

Probably just a troll. Just wanted to humor them. The reason nothing had been going on is that life got in the way, and leads dried up.
Or somebody has sniped him and offered money for it and as such, hoarding it, We've seen it happen before. But anyway a small update... i had a friend who is the legal profession look into this for me (as far as getting in contact with the copyright holder) a month or two ago and he said as best he can tell, NOBODY knows what this thing is, there are no records of it and such who ever is holding the legal copyright doesnt know they are the owners. So as far as getting the forms that UCLA has given us signed....there's nobody to sign it. Thats just a summery up the conversation.

So unfortunately the disc I thought that would contain the Koopa segments, is not it. I will continue looking.
BUT Ive also found a disc of "Club Mario" which I know some segments are missing. I can only get the first half of the disc to play so if anybody on here thats in the US and a bit tech savvy and you think you can save this disc, I will gladly send it to you!
Give some more information on "I can only get the first half of the disc to play" and we can go from there. Was it in a DVD player? was it in the computer? have you tried copying the disc? what are the error messages. post more pictures of the disc so we can see scratches and rot. Sorry for the homework but for us to diagnose the problem we need more info. First off i would try and make a digital copy of the disc (iso file or some other format, handbrake is free program if you don't have one).

The disc is perfectly mint, No rot and not a single scratch on it. I tried playing it in a DVD player and it will only play the first two segments it's split into four different chapters. I'll try it in my computer when I get home later.
