This is a bit of an obscure one. Basically in the mid-2000s the French public television station France 2 aired a show called Vice Versa, a show that was basically Ned's Declassified meets Ranma 1/2. Per French Wikipedia:
This series features Thomas, a thirteen-year-old teenager, who, following an incident, transforms into a girl whenever he wants…
From what I've found all of series 1 is on Youtube but only one episode of series 2 is (episode 5). Not sure what the demand for French teencoms here is but it's worth a shot!
honestly I'm surprised a show with this concept aired in 2005, granted it was in Europe (no way was this getting a US adaptation in the Bush years). It might have aired on one of the French-language channels in Canada but I doubt it. Here's what I could find of the official site: web.archive.org/web/20050126011606/http://serie.viceversa.free.fr/
Yeah I was baffled at how a show like Genie in the House(Featuring the titular Genie played by a white guy in brownface) could've aired in the 2000s and 10s, there's no way I can possibly imagine a show like that ever being greenlit in the U.S. in that time.
There was another teen French comedy originating in Quebec called Radio Enfer that ran for a while, looks like most of the episodes are on Yotuube.

Yeah I don't think 2005 America would've been ready for essentially a genderfluid show with a youth audience, you saw how people got over that one Postcards from Buster episode with the two moms. Maybe The N would've taken it, seems like it would've been up their alley. Or a whole bunch of channels in Canada.

We were OK with Ranma but I guess people here were more willing to give a pass to anime being weird.
Yeah I remember the furor over that Buster episode and people in my school class discussing it, we all thought the ban was stupid.
