Recently got a GB Operator and currently working on transferring the saves from my childhood games. Do the saves have to have the same file name as the game file in order to work? Also the Game Boy Color games have the regular .gb extension instead of .gbc. Will that pose a problem if I put them on a GB/GBC/GBA emulator on a DS R4 card?
If you know what you are doing and have the right tools to do it you probably should get the saves off the game boy/game boy colour cartridge but I don’t know if the battery will stop your progress

Miraculously a couple of my GBC games (the kind that uses save batteries) still had a working save. Thankfully most of the other games I really cared about used password saves, so I could just Google passwords for certain levels. My absolute favorite doesn't even use saves at all and just lets you select any level: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvbIxuNR2CI I don't have the dexterity to open the cartridges and replace the batteries myself, so for now I will just play the save through the emulator. I know almost all GBA games don't rely on save batteries but I backed up the saves of my favorite games as a precaution. Is it possible to make menu icons for Game Boy Games like DS games have? It would make browsing the R4 more fun. Also wondering is there a device similar to GB operator but for Vsmile games (some of the games I own I haven't been able to find roms of)? My console only has a wireless option and either the receiver for the wireless on the console or the transmitter on the controller don't work (despite the controller having new batteries), rendering me unable to play my cartridges on the original hardware. The guy I know at a vintage game shop says he hasn't dealt with these consoles before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=77HRBz7y4ec
