As for who Mr. Wahlberg is, he's the founder of Celluloid Studios, which produced the clip/test/pilot!

I thought it had to do with actually celluloid cels (like the animation ones) despite it being a live action production.


How many brain cells have I lost since last year?

As of right now, we've confirmed the existence of three Backyardigans pilots

-Me and My Friends
-The Nick Digital CGI pilot
-An earlier, less finished version of the Nick Digital CGI pilot

While doing a little bit of research into the Nick Digital one, we discovered some inconsistencies between the screenshots and clips- some looked really nice while others had no lighting or poor texturing. This has led to the theory that there's a third pilot, basically an earlier less unfinished version of the Nick Digital one. Though I don't know if the whole thing exist in a "less finished" version or if the content we have is all that exists from it

And as for this Celluloid Studios piece, the original belief is that it was a fourth pilot. But considering Celluloid mostly dealt with short form content, the current theory is that it was either

-a bumper used within Me and My Friends (which we can't confirmed because we've never seen the completed project)
-a test that was made before even the earliest iteration of the Nick Digital pilot. It's possible they were originally going to outsource the series but changed their minds.

I'd like to the think that the "outsource the series thing" does have back bone to it, nick sometimes did outsource their shows, and this could be likely.

Hey guys, I'm Ber (the guy who found the tape and photos of MaMF) and I came to clarify some things about this clip.

First of all, this clip is NOT a fourth pilot. We believe it is a clip from the opening of MaMF or an animation test from the second pilot.

Now talking about the Nick Digital pilot, yes there were 2 Nick Digital pilots. I spoke to someone who worked on the second pilot, and he told me that in fact, the second pilot was made entirely in animation, but a while later, they made a pilot in motion capture.

So there are 3 confirmed Backyardigans pilots.

-Me and My Friends (1998)

-The Animated Pilot (2001)

-The Motion Capture Pilot (2002)

Please don't contact James, he didn't make this clip and he doesn't know who did. I contacted countless people who worked at Celluloid and they also don't know where this clip came from.

This is just my two cents, but I definitely think the new footage is related to MAMF in some way. This isn't a theory I can back up, but the background behind the fence looks oddly real, almost as if there's a part in MAMF where Pablo goes from real to animated, like an outro or a bumper. If we reach someone who worked on MAMF and is willing to talk (even if they don't have the pilot), we should ask if there are any animated portions in MAMF.
