The Cartoon Network Version Was Aired On Cartoon Network Taiwan For A Block Called Miguzi, The CTV Version Was Aired On CTV And Videoland ONTV
Theres Some Localization In The Taiwanese Mandarin Dubs Of Azumanga Daioh
According To My Translation From Stars21, Ayumu Kasuga Was Changed To Peiping And The Audience Strongly Demand To Change Peiping To Osaka Due To The Peiping Incident i dont whats that
Because the original intention of creating fun has been obliterated, based on respect for the original work and reference to the opinions of the audience, China Television decided to start from episode 10
We will return "Osaka" to everyone, and we ask the audience to wait carefully and support.
It's Unknown What Date It Aired
In the original book, Ayumu Kasuga is from Osaka, with a bit of "Osaka accent", and mentions Osaka's local snack "Takoyaki";
After the translation, the word "from Osaka" was changed to "from Beijing", with "Beijing accent", and the local snack was changed to "Beijing roast duck"
, in order to increase the interest and imagination of the audience, but it attracted strong dissatisfaction from comic fans and cartoon fans, and left a message on the day of the broadcast
The edition received dozens of letters of suggestion, asking for corrections to the translation, mostly with the content of "Please respect the original", "Return me Osaka",
"Don't want Peking duck"
It recieved backlash so it's reverted back to Osaka(大阪) at around ep.10
From 1/20, the anime Azumanga Daioh broadcast at 18:30 from Monday to Friday has aroused enthusiasm on the Internet
The discussion, especially manga fans, was even more excited, mainly because of the controversy caused by the nickname of the character Ayumu Kasuga in the play.
Heres My Translation From That Link Of The VAs: forum.gamer.com.tw/G2.php?bsn=5297&sn=30
Zhu Yihua - Mrs. Kurosawa, Chihiro (Wind Flower)
Zhan Yajing-Teacher Yukari, Ali (Yomi) (Rufu, Harley)
Lei Biwen-Azhi, Xiangxiang (Kaori) (Keroro, Edward Elric)
Dong Jinping-Chiyo, Kagura (the hero and heroine of the Legend of the Magic Beans...forgot the name)
Xu Yunyun-Osaka, Mushen Classmate (Huatian 1st Road, Little Master)
Wu Dongyuan-Dad, Teacher Kimura, all male characters
CTV Version I Think
Feng Jiade - Teacher Yukari, Xiang Xiang (Yin Enxi, Zhong Wuyan)
Qian Xinyu - Tomo, Kurosawa Teacher (Yuki, Rukia Kuchiki)
Lei Biwen - Yomi, Chihiro (Sakura Mikan, Xiao Jun)
Lin Mixiu- Chiyo, Kagura (Tamama, Guranda)
Fu Qihui- Osaka, Mugami-kun (Toucan, Xiaoying)
Huang Tianyou- Kimura-sensei, Dad, all other male characters (Kururu, Hanai Haruki)

According To garthman420
The characters in this dub were named: 阿阪 (Osaka), 阿智 (Tomo), 阿曆 (Yomi), 阿榊󠄀 (Sakaki), 神樂 (Kagura), 千代 (Chiyo), 香林 (Kaorin) - which is somewhat reminiscent of Southern Chinese naming practices where "阿" is added to the front of names to form a nickname of sorts.
he think they employed this because Tomo, Yomi and Sakaki's names in Japanese are one character long (智, 暦 and 榊 respectively) and may sound weird to a Chinese audience. Kagura and Chiyo dont have "阿" in their names because their names are 2 characters, so they sound natural in Chinese already. Something interesting is that Osaka's name, 大阪 is 2 characters long but received "阿" to form "阿阪" - indicating that "Osaka" is not her real name and rather a nickname... Kaorin is also interesting, because it is nickname formed by adding 香 (かおり) + ん. Chinese does something similar, using 香林, "香" for "kaori" and "林" for "rin".
This sort of naming practice is common in Taiwan, Southern China, and in Chinese communities in Southeast Asia, so this could either be a dub from Taiwan or one done in Singapore. Additionally, the Mandarin name on the box is "校园漫画大王" (literally: school campus manga daioh)... other renditions are 阿滋漫画大王 and 笑园漫画大王 (pun on the word for 'laughter' which sounds like the word for 'school')
after checking the mandarin wiki page some of the names dont really match, 阿阪/大阪 (Osaka), 阿榊󠄀/榊󠄀 (Sakaki), 香林/香香 (Kaorin), 阿美/喵喵 (Nyamo)... so he's not too sure if these are indeed the same dubs
