You know what they say, "curiosity killed the cat"... Or rather, in this case, had it sold to be eaten.
There was this strange meme I once saw that I can't find. A long time ago, it was either the very late 2000s or very early 2010s, someone showed me strange a video on their phone (or at least I thought it was on a phone). It was an animated video of an orange/tan cat in what I think was a brown paper bag, singing. It used a realistic, photoshop style for the cat, bag, and background.
I didn't remember the lyrics. However, I do know that the cat was singing about being eaten. While my memory is hazy regarding this, I remember the person who showed me talking about how allegedly, in China, people eat cat and dog meat, and they said this video is about that. The cat was in the bag for someone to purchase and eat, I guess? The cat could've been in a Chinese food box instead. The people watching it with me pointed out how creepy it was and that the cat looked like an animatronic. Again, I didn't remember the lyrics, but I did remember that the cat spoke with a male voice, and the song might've sounded a bit muffled from poor audio quality.
I recently asked the person I thought was the one who showed me the video, and I was right about the Chinese food thing. They don't remember when we saw the video specifically. But they did say that they think someone we know sent the video. They also said the song in the video was the song "Cat's in the Cradle". I used this info and found out that there's this old parody of the song called "Cats in the Kettle". The parody is about how Chinese food allegedly uses cat meat instead of chicken or pork. I'm almost positive this was the song that was in the meme. The timeline adds up.
With that in mind, the cat could've been in a kettle or pot instead of a bag or box. It is a bit weird considering it was sung by the cat about to be eaten in the video, even though the song is from the perspective of someone quitting Chinese food because it contains cat. I think the meme might've just contained a portion of the song instead of the entire thing.
As for the person who sent the video, I don't really see them often. Though they did come to my house somewhat recently. Next time I see them, I'll ask about it and see if it helps. Though, the person I asked about the video said they don't know for sure who sent it.
What's funny is that, before I asked, I thought it was a darker-sounding song in a minor key (I compose music myself, so I know what I'm talking about). But, it turns out it wasn't. Funny how memory can do that. I tried to search for the meme based off the info I recently got, but I didn't find it and decided to give up after a certain point.
Does anyone remember seeing something like this? Here is a rough drawing I rushed to make depicting what I remember it looking like:
He might've been next to a cash register too, but that might just be my memory playing tricks on me.
