"fake" lost media that turned out to be real

Sort of similar to a thread on the off-topic section I made, but more related to lost media: Is there any lost media you thought "This is clearly fake, I can't believe someone would make such a stupid fake thing"... only for it to turn out to actually be a real thing(and even FOUND in some cases).
For me, it would be Outback Joey: When I first saw footage of this game as a 2D platformer for the HeartBeat Catalyst peripheral for the Sega Genesis, I was like "Ok, this is fake, there's no way that it's a 2D platformer." Then I did some research and, what do you know, it actually is a 2D PLATFORMER. I-I-I don't know how that's supposed to PLAY a 2D PLATFORMER on a TREADMILL, HOW DOES THAT WORK!?
It wasn't just one plane either. There were multiple paths, enemies, & you had to do some attacks(specifically a kung-fu kick as well as a temporary boxing glove powerup) as well AND find pieces of an amulet, just... WHAT. How the heck was one supposed to play this game on the real thing!? HOW!?
