Forgive me if this isn't the place for this, I've never participated in the forums side of this before so I have no idea what I'm doing. I posted this on r/tipofmytongue a couple days ago and got no response so I figured maybe I could find some help finding this promo on here. The following is pretty much what I wrote on TOMT.
Some important context: YTV is a Canadian TV channel for kids, it's basically the Canadian equivalent of Nickelodeon and it's the channel where most Nick shows would air in Canada. Whenever they would advertise a show or a movie that was airing on the network, the YTV voice, Eddie Glen (Canadians know the one), would comedically voice over clips from the show by recontextualizing the clips to make some funny scenario. In my search for this one in particular I've found that these genuinely hold up and have a weirdly modern-internet humour vibe.
In particular, though, I've been looking for one for Spy Kids 3 which was airing as part of whatever the movie block was called at the time, they've had several. This particular promo really stuck out to me as I found it to be very quotable and I'd like to see it again.
The promo itself was about the narrator searching for "The Guy" asking the characters who The Guy is, asking Juni if he's The Guy only for Juni to respond that "I'm not The Guy!" and when pressed about it Juni responds "I already told you, I'm not the guy!". At some point it shifts to Elijah Wood's character saying "I'm The Guy. The real Guy." and the narrator responds "Oh, so Mr. Frodo's the guy." This line in particular really stood out to me because it's weird hearing a reference to an actor's other role so casually dropped in a commercial, and if I'm being honest, this line is the reason I want to see it again. The commercial would continue with the narrator concluding that Demetra must be "The Girl", and Juni responds "I am DEFINITELY The Guy!" and the narrator chides him saying "Oh, so now you're The Guy because she's The Girl!" That's about all I remember from this promo, hopefully I helped jog someone's memory.
This promo would have aired some time between 2003 (the release of the movie) and 2007 (when I stopped watching Canadian television). I looked through promo compilations of that period of time as well as commercial compilations from the channel and had no luck. Specifically, the YouTube channels "AB on DVD" and "Miker Phone" as well as a couple others I checked do not have it as far as I can find. I also did a quick search on archive.org but found nothing new, but I could also just not know how to search that site effectively. However, through my digging I found a Wikia dedicated to archiving YTV schedules and it happened to have one from April 15, 2007 which featured Spy Kids 3 as part of the ZAPX movie block, so this could be the time at which the promo would have aired, however, it is possible that it aired at an earlier date that wasn't archived and the promo was not from 2007. Searching "YTV April 2007" has proven similarly fruitless.
I'm hoping someone has better knowledge of where I might look for this or at least remembers this silly ad from a silly TV channel. It would suck if this ad in particular was lost to time as it's really stuck with me.
