In the 1940s, there was a celebrity squirrel named Tommy Tucker. He was known for wearing dresses (as he could not wear pants because of his tail) and would often visit children's hospitals and schools. More information on him can be found here. According to that same article, Tommy starred in a Paramount short film. I love squirrels (which is how I became aware of Tommy) and would be interested to see that film, but can find no traces of it online.
Tommy's ephemera mostly consisting of photographs, articles and other printed material is available from the National Museum of American History. It doesn't look like they have any video or audio, however. Another notable piece of Tommy-related media I've heard about (though less likely to still exist) is a radio ad to sell war bonds in WWII that he was in with President Roosevelt. Hopefully either (or both) of these resurface someday, as they are unique and quirky pieces of celebrity animal (and WWII) history. I know I'll continue to keep a lookout for them and may also contact the museum just in case.
