Hi! It’s kinda been a while since I last made a thread here so I might be a bit awkward trying to word things.
Jackanory is a BBC show where actors in different settings reading children’s novels and it ran from the 1960s to 1990s. There are over 3000 episodes and unfortunately over 2000 are missing. There are some stories I’ve been trying to find like The Hobbit but I’m gonna focus on The Wind in the Willows It’s a 5-parter and it have Bernard Cribbins narrating the story. Episodes are
The River Bank
The Open Road
The Wild Wood
Mr Toad
The Return of Ulysses
and they are aired from December 6 to 10 of 1982. Besides from a very small snippet of footage found on a Cbeebies video with Bernard Cribbins, there’s barely anything.
I’m sure that it’s in the BCC archives and maybeeee someone who recorded the episodes might upload them (it’s definitely possible since it was in the early 80s) but as an american who just so happens to be fixated on The Wind in the Willows in general, there isn’t much I can do. I’m also certain that this thread won’t do much and people might pass it off as pointless especially when I could had bring up any other more important lost Jackanory episodes but I thought I would take my shot here since talking about it in the Discord server didn’t do anything.
Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
