WHAT'S going on with this KOSA bill?

having to show your ID is so stupid, god why cant millennials give us a break about the stupid ass "kIdS aRe NoT sAfE oN tHe InTeRnEt!!!111!!" But this will probably wont happen, because this bill sounds too intense to bee happen

Your are absolutely right about all ages being on the same place, since now that pedophilia is so common, teens can be easily dmed by some random creepy old man on the internet with just a keyboard and clicking, which is porbably one of the main reasons why this bill is being made, but why not make social media thats ONLY for a specific age group (Actually, theres a lot of social media thats made just for kids and minors, but you dont really hear about them a lot)

I feel like politicians constantly try to pass these child safety internet laws only to create a new one every year or so. These laws do very little to actually protect kids and often feel very performative. You can tell because anytime anyone brings up a valid criticism, they get accused of being a groomer.

I live in Virginia with the so called “porn ban”. It only blocked 2 websites. Yet, the people who voted for it will probably give themselves a pat on the back and act like they are keeping kids safe.

Great point-these bills have been happening for years now. AND that's what I'm hoping for, this newest KOSA turd incarnation just gets dropped quickly. 

Yeah, I hate that "you MUST hate children" criticism, it's stupid and needs to die. There are fully valid reasons to not want free speech being forcefully censored by the government on social media, and it extra "amuses" me that the ones who do that are also the ones who fearmonger endlessly about "evil Communist Atheist Chinese/North Korean censorship."

Like how those "book bans" have now been spread to multiple public libraries, despite certain groups claiming that they were ACTUALLY only going after school libraries???!!!! Like it started with "I don't want my kid reading THAT book for class (fair enough), then to "I don't want them being able to check it out of the library (..still okay, I suppose), to "I don't want that book available in the school library AT ALL (WAIT...), to "I don't want it available at my public library at all (like, that defeats the entire purpose of PUBLIC libraries). And I mean, it's not like any kid back in the day could just check out explicit romance and/or horror books and then pass them around, which they did. BUT NOW ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT'S A PROBLEM???!!!! If someone who is offended by a certain book demands it be removed out of the library, but another person doesn't agree, who wins? 

And before I see some yahoo somewhere whine about IDs not being actual censorship and that that data won't really be held in the system anyway, first of all, it WILL likely still be collected and kept in some form, and let's just say I wouldn't be using even THIS site anymore if I was forced to upload my ID to post here. Even the highest security websites have been hacked before, banking and government and college sites have been hacked, if there is any opportunity that a group or individual could collectively humiliate a large group of people and get some "internet legend" points out of it, they will. 

A lot of adult sites are already super sketchy as it is, I don't think them having access to people's person information is a good idea. I can see that also being used to blackmail someone. Plus, what's stopping a minor from stealing an ID or sharing an ID with someone who is older than them? How would the system know if an ID is fake? We have the AI technology to literally make realistic portraits.

Why are you randomly blaming millennials for that? I’m not a millennial myself, but it just seems weird to blame certain age groups on a whim.
