In 2005 a film was being produced in Italy called Dear Anne: The Gift of Hope. Dear Anne was a motion-capture CGI animated film based on the diary of Holocaust victim Anne Frank being directed by Dario Picciau. There was a trailer released, a website (which even included a digital press kit) and a bit of public coverage in both the United States and Italy. Yet, somehow, by 2006 updates stopped rolling out, the expected release date passed and nobody would ever see the entirety of Dear Anne. IMDB lists the film as being released in 2007, however this is likely false.
This is the first I've heard of the film, and from what I could find, hardly anyone has mentioned it since it was quietly canceled. I have no idea when it was canceled, why, or how much was completed before it happened. If anyone can find information on what became of this, please let me know.
