So, back around the late 90s and early 00's websites used to be way more fun. I might put up a later thread looking for a way to find and play the old shockwave games, but here I'm looking for the shockwave shorts Cartoon Network used to have on their website.
I can't even remember what they used to be called, but I remember that there were a couple made by Spumco, a small series that had I believe a curly red haired kid and his dog in crazy situations like being absorbed into a video game, and one that I swear was advertised on the channel when it had come out, because there was a unique theme the channel was doing that week where it was all Beatles centered and the short itself was like, a music video.
There were ALOT of these shorts, but it's so hard to find them based on description of "cartoon network online shorts" I do hope these get found, or even a name for what they were refered to gets mentioned just to be able to dig into the time before flash.
I used the Wayback Machine to see if I could find anything, and in a capture from 2000 I found something called Web Premiere Toons. There's a banner on the page that says you need the Shockwave Flash Plugin to to view them.
There seem to be two types of Web Premiere Toons: Interactive movies, containing things from the Powerpuff Girls, Atom Ant, Saturday Night Fred (A Flintstones spin-off, by the looks of it) and Sir Huck. Then there's the originals: These titles include Coot Country, Germtown, Marshmallow Money, B. Happy and Pink Donkey and the Fly. Here's the link so you can take a look for yourself: web.archive.org/web/20000302190408/http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/wpt/index.html
I think these could be some of the shorts you were talking about, but you'll have to confirm that, obviously. I'll try to find contacts from CN and see if I can download a copy of the Shockwave Flash Plugin to view the Web Premiere Toons (probably impossible but I'll try lol). I'll also ask on other sites to see if anyone else has any recollections.

These were known as Web Premiere Toons. That cartoon with the Red Haired Guy & his dog was called "Wendall & Wuggums"
