Hello all. I signed up for these forums hoping you all could help. At this point in my search I fear I may have just witnessed a bad fever dream. I remember watching Starz or Encore back in the late 90s. I was probably 14. I remember seeing Cloak and Dagger and then Wizards before watching parts of some sort of R-rated animated movie or tv show. It was in a style like the Red Bull Gives You Wings commercials. I remember only one scene from it where the police are discussing how a man died and their conclusion was that he dreamed that he fell and broke his neck and therefore his neck broke in real life. I don't recall any English language, either cartoonish jibberish or a foreign language because it used a lot of animated thought bubbles.
I have spent years looking for this thing! I know it has to exist but I have no idea what it is called and have vague memories of it. I saw it only one time and that alone makes my search almost fruitless. If any of you have any ideas of what I saw, please help me finally get some closure after all these years.
Definitely not Hertzfeldt. The style was more like the 90s Red Bull commercials by Tibor Hernadi. Minimalist animation sure, but not stick-figure-esque. Also, this would have been seen pre-2000.
O Canada came to my mind, but that was on Cartoon Network (before Adult Swim).
You are my new friend! The short I was looking for was called Special Delivery and it was on O Canada! but not the Cartoon Network version, I imagine due to the nudity. It was made in 1978 and was part of the O Canada! cartoon compilation but I saw this one on Starz or Encore, not Cartoon Network.
