When Family Matters introduced Steve Urkel, they went back and replaced some of the earlier episodes cold opens with new ones containing him. The season 1 DVD set has the original versions in every episode but episode four. The only way it's turned up is dubbed in another language. My question is if anyone has an English version, from another English speaking country or possibly a recording from the original airing of the episode. Here's the dubbed version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z2Y9yQoXuQ

I'll check and see if anyone on SitcomsOnline has an original airing.
Are the Urkel cold-open versions of season 1 episodes available on streaming?

Yes they are in the Hulu eps. The s1 dvds have the original versions in all but Ep 4.
hopefully the new upcoming DVD release later this month will have this original opening.
don't think so, looks like it's just a complete set compiled of the previous 4 seasons, and the remaining 5 seasons that were previously released as MOD only. just with new artwork etc to make it a proper complete set.
same thing seems to be the case for Step By Step, which all of a sudden is also receiving the complete series dvd set treatment.
