This may have just an early title for another Sonic game. I remember I think a year or two ago, the German voice actor of Orbot's resume had "Sonic Mach 2" or something like that.
This is an interesting topic- I recall hearing about it somewhat recently.
It is odd that someone would credit a game that never came out, which, I would assume implies they did some kind of work on it.
Maybe asking him would be a decent idea- I think the current theory is that it was a Silver centered spin-off of 06, but since 06 was so bad obviously they didn't want to continue anything related to it.
I think Mach 2 was allegedly Boom Fire & Ice, since it's technically Boom 2 and it may have been called that at one point.
I can't think of any game Awakening could have become though, or any good connections between a real sonic game and that.
Heard of this a LOOONNGG time ago, and didn't think much of it, but looking back at it and giving it a second glance, it seems pretty interesting.
It doesn't seem to out there that Sega had plans to make a game focusing on Silver, since they were really promoting and pushing him with the release of 06, but since Sega refuses to remember 06, it got canned, sounds reasonable.
But looking at placeholder titles for released games, the only game I can think of that it could have been would be Black Knight, given that it was in development the time the supposed game was in development, so perhaps it was a very early placeholder? It's hard to say however as there is very little information on development of the Black Knight.
Sorry that I'm late to the table, but I believe that Awakening was actually the working title for an action game involving Silver's trademark psychokinesis abilities that Sonic Team was developing in 2005 before deciding to incorporate his character into the 2006 video game. The only evidence and information I can find about this online is an IGN article detailing Silver's creation and an interview with his creator Shun Nakamura included on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PlayStation 2 & 3 and PlayStation Portable (the relevant parts starts at 1:23 and ends at 2:29).
I also believe that its unlikely and weird that a credit for a game that was never released (or was the working title for another game) was listed on Pete Capella's website and has no evidence of its existence online outside of his resume listing of it under his "Voice Work" section. I think that the best thing we can do about it is getting a direct answer from Capella himself and see if he remembers anything about this game.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.
If it was Silver based on then it would have been meant to release in the mid to late 2000's. My Theory is it may have started development while 06 started so they could hop on that hype. Do you think we could find any screenshots or articles? Who would be involved at Sega or once were to ask?
I'm assuming this is gonna go the way of the Three Men pilot for Ed Edd and Eddy, and be only a rumor. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I doubt it, because the actual voice actor has it on his resume, so it cannot possibly be a rumor if it's confirmed by one person, possibly being misidentified is more likely. I was assuming it was possibly a renamed game except when I realized silver has never been in another game other than 06 as far as I know.
The other games Appeared in were only had 1 line in generations after 06, as well as voice lines in the rivals series, his last appearance was in Sonic Forces in 2017. He has been in quite a few games.

I just want to let you know that Orbot didn't exist appear till Sonic Unleashed. If this game started development around the same time 06 did then Orbot wouldn't be in it.
The subject is very interesting, in fact the subject I followed a lot at the beginning of 2016. However, what is known is the Pete curriculum and from there on out nothing, it is not known whether it is a Silver solo game or a kind of "Sonic 06 2"
Bringing back a 6 year old thread to say this: Has anyone actually contacted Pete Capella to see what the deal was with Awakening? If nobody else will do it, then I will.

Wow this is a blast from the past, I completely forgot I had even commented on this thread when I saw it show up again.
All those years ago I did message Pete on Facebook but never got a response, I don't know if he even saw the message. I also remember a screenshot from a journalist having asked to interview him, to which he agreed, but I never found that interview or know if it took place.
Maybe there's some info on this that's been buried over the years, but it'll probably be even harder to find now, since back then it was difficult to search for. If you get any new information about this, share it if you can.

He has a Twitter. Maybe try contacting him there? I doubt that he would read Facebook messages imo.
