On December 13, 2022 and December 19, 2022, it was announced that Pandora TV would be shutting down on January 31, 2023, at 24:00 (KST)/12:00 AM (KST) especially when the Korean localization version YouTube was launched on January 23, 2008, causing the latter site would overshadow the former site along with Afreeca TV most likely due to the rise of a real-name system and the enforcement of the Copyright Act in 2009 introducing a three strikes policy for online copyright infringement.
On December 20, 2022, it was announced that "Pandora TV Co., Ltd. has moved away from a Web 2.0-based online video media platform company and is a blockchain-based Web3 company that connects people to people with blockchains such as KMPlayer, KMPlex, Moviebloc, and Cobak, using know-how in video services for 24 years. We want to leap forward." "With the end of the Pandora.tv service, our company will soar into the future, and we will focus on the blockchain-based Web3 business to provide better services to our customers, so we ask for your continued love and advice. But seriously, the idea when the company decided to be shifted from a Web 2.0-based online video media platform company and is a blockchain-based Web3 company was absolutely horrible idea considered that blockchains and NFTs was a big reason that ended up destroying the environment for obvious reasons.
