This is something that's been on my mind a lot recently, and may come off as silly - I mean, YouTube Poops are incredibly stupid, but I always think of all the iconic and funny YTPs I watched back in the day that seemingly disappeared overnight with absolutely no trace online anymore - even some legacy ones. And since I feel YTPs are an important enough sub-community to want to archive them, but it doesn't seem like anyone else shares this mindset. Which sucks, because there are many that I would love to see again, but they literally don't exist anymore, and I wouldn't see someone caring enough to want to properly archive them, because YTPs are incredibly stupid on their own.
Oh that's definitely stuff worth preserving! Heck, I myself have seen some YTPs before that I can't seem to find anymore which really sucks.
I think it's most important to preserve them cus of how often copyright hounds fuck over the uploader of these things, leaving many of them pretty much unwatchable lol, I think most stuff from the late 2000s and mid/early 2010s were hit particularly bad, which yeah it sucks hard lol
I'm on the side of extremewreck2000 and pointlessfiller, but I think the only "lost" YTP I know of is a Toy Story YTP that I remembered watching maybe around 2012-2013. The person who made it probably didn't have that big of a standing in the community compared to other poopers back then like EmpLemon, cartoonlover98, and many more. It might still be on YouTube amidst a sea of other Toy Story poops or it might've simply been deleted. Here are a couple details I remember from the video:
The poop opened with the Pixar logo, but when Luxo Jr. jumps on the "I", he gets launched high into the air and shatters into pieces after he hits the ground. The word "PIXAR" gets crossed out and is replaced with the creator's screenname.
During the sequence where Buzz gets knocked out the window, Peppy from Starfox 64 says "do a barrel roll!" as Buzz Lightyear rolls aside out of the globe's way.
When Sid faceplants into his bedroom window after it starts to rain outside, the glass breaks and causes Sid's face to be bloodied.
The type of lost media I tend to deal with are those that I've caught glimpses of in my childhood years to around my pre-teen years, but maybe I might dig up some stuff from someone like MeiAIDS if the people of LMW feel like I'm the right person who's up to the task. Then again, I am wet behind the ears when it comes to this community...

I used to love them back when they were 90% Zelda/Mario CDI and IM Meen clips. I laughed my ass off at them more often than not. My all time favorite was called "the shopkeep is a goldfish" and it included clips from another CDI game called Bodyslam. That one was removed even back in 2009.
I wish I had saved those videos back in the day. Many got taken down, many more are buried in the algorithm and wont easily be found again. The algorithm favors newer content and unless you know the name of what youre searching for...
I'm pretty sure a lot of old YTPs were lost in the wake of iacom International Inc. v. YouTube, Inc.
I remember when Viacom was the most hated name on the internet. Those were simpler times, when it was the new media (youtube) vs the dying old media (cable) and we were all united for the free flow of information. Netflix was gonna give us access to everything at all times for $8.
And then the internet became its own worst enemy and the tech giants we thought were the good guys (amazon, google, youtube, etc) became the very same bloated oligarchs we thought theyd free us from. Now theres as many streaming services as network channels, stuff gets pulled because some soccer mom complained on twitter and the movies are edited for no reason.

I'm just gonna put it here: EmpLemon covered the lawsuit pretty well in this video. He's a former YTPer who actively speaks out against copyright abusers on the platform and YouTube's bad business decisions.
As was said before, the fact that Viacom is such a ruthless company means that if a YTP gets removed off YouTube, it most likely would be gone for good. And I don't think the lawsuit would've helped that at all lol.

I feel like something like this would have to be a group effort, the community only conducts lost media searches as a group typically because it's easier than there being only one person looking.

But how would we go about finding them? The Wayback Machine? I watched a lot of YTP’s back in 2010 to about 2012. I don’t remember losing any but I’m sure there are videos that I’ve seen that were taken down.
I don't think there would be an easy way to find them unfortunately due to the nature of these videos. They often get taken down overnight and are impossible to view.
