So i've been getting into the TV series Everwood lately and I found out it had six books based on the show, but then I found out that it was originally supposed to have eight books, and two of them got cancelled seemingly last minute as covers for them were released online and one of them even had a plot synopsis listed, so the cancellation must've been very last minute(apparently the books were not well-received by fans of the show for the most part and weren't selling that well due to lack of promotion, many fans of the show weren't even aware there were books)
I thought i'd mention because books that are lost media tend to be pretty rare, let alone books whose releases got cancelled. I've heard of finished comics going unreleased(like that Vision series a few years ago)but never regular novels being advertised and never coming out.
The two unreleased Everwood books are Under Pressure and Change of Plans: Under Pressure
At least one of those books even had a pre-order page on Amazon:Under Pressure
Despite the fact that both books have release dates listed on Goodreads, nobody has ever actually seen copies of them out in the wild, so those may have been the planned release dates, but the books were quietly cancelled without so much as a press-release it seems.
I contacted the authors of both books asking them if they know anything about their cancellation, will report back with any news.
Didn't hear back from the authors, tried contacting Simon and Schuster about a month or so ago and haven't heard back. I did find something interesting at the end of book six though, a plot synopsis for the unreleased 7th book: i.imgur.com/BSzBjdM.jpg
Got a bit of an update on this, on one of the One Tree Hill sub-reddits I frequent I was shocked to discover Anna Lotto- the author of the second OTH novel "A Heart So True" was posting on there. We got to talking and I mentioned the Everwood books and she told me some mindblowing new information-there was actually supposed to be a 3rd OTH novel and she was in the process of the doing the outline for it when suddenly it got cancelled, I bring this up because mentioned the editor might've potentially worked on the Everwood books as well and they might potentially have been completely finished.
