So this is an oddity for me, because I've found no other reference to this online, but I remember it so well that I think it's impossible for me to have made it up.
I was very into Spongebob as a kid, and I used to stay up during the marathons to see all of the mid-episode Nickelodeon segments featuring the hosts -- one guy, one girl. These were occasionally fun on their own, but the really cool parts would be when Patchy the Pirate would show up and would join the hosts for some random banter. I recall one running joke being that Patchy had a crush on one of the presenters (the female one) and would often interject comments that were only funny because he wan't a real person. Something like

Something like
Female presenter: Patchy we have good news!
Patchy: You and I are getting married?
The joke being that Patchy is kind of a pathetic person. Anyways--
This eventually culminated to a series of segments which aired in a marathon leading up to the Caveman episode, Ugh. In a series of pre-recorded and a few potentially live bits, we see Patchy trying to travel back in time to the prehistoric era using a time machine disguised as an out-house (One of the most cliche Time Travel jokes that you can do). As I recall, Patchy's Out House would occasionally land in the Nick set, but there were also a couple Chroma Key jokes that really have stuck in my mind.
The outhouse lands in front of a still image of an ice cube tray. Patchy emerges.
Patchy: "Oh no, the Ice Age!"
The Outhouse lands in front of footage of patchy accepting a Kids Choice award. Patchy emerges.
Patchy: "Oh, this is so last year."
The thing that makes me believe that this can't have been something that I imagined is that I remember it kind of being a little crap. If I had exaggerated my memory too much in the last decade, I think I would remember an actual cool time-travel-story. Instead, I clearly recall Patchy's outhouse being in the bottom left hand corner, being too small to actually make sense. I remember, even as a kid, knowing that it was green screen, and I remember thinking that the jokes were kinda corney. And yet, I still kinda want to see this piece of Spongebob history restored or documented in some form.
I'm not truly sure where to head from this point, if anything I just want validation in the fact that this did exist at some point. Perhaps it's the sort of thing where we just need to spread the word about it existing as we wait for someone to dub an old VHS copy of the marathon or something like that. If we could find any Patchy-heavy linking segments, or even just any of the old host segments, I think it would be a great find.
