Hey so I posted it on r/tipofmytongue, but I don’t think it had any replies. So I’m just going to copy and paste what I posted.
Around 2008-2009, I was in pre-K and my class would go to the library and read books from what is left on the shelf. There’s this one book that I keep looking at. It had like a very particular art style. Right now it feels similar to Jean Basquiat’s art. The pages were all black, but the characters has lineart that were colorful. I believe the characters were animals? And I remember in the pages it had buildings. So it probably takes place in the city? These are some random stuff that I remember: the characters were arguing, there was a broken beer bottle? I believe the animals were cats? And I’m not sure if I read this in a art class. Could be some strange art book tbh.
