No joke, but I had an apparently false memory of a theatrical live-action Magic School Bus movie in the early 2010s that I always saw commercials of and my brother and I have a shared false memory of a cardboard cutout of a live action Miss Frizzle at the stores standing by the back-to-school products.
This one is based off of a dream I had last night.
"The Darkness Has Risen" is a cancelled finale TV/Direct to Video movie of the 1999 animated kids horror series "Archie's Weird Mysteries" that was planned for a Early 2001 premiere/release. The TV/Direct to Video film was intially the 4 final episodes of a cancelled "Season 2" of the show before DIC Entertainment canceled plans of a season 2 of "Archie's Weird Mysteries" in favor of making the final episodes of the scrapped season 2 one huge TV/Direct to Video movie in collaboration with Universal Pictures and their Cartoon Studios division. The story would've been about an evil dark force, created by villains from previous episodes, looming over Riverdale, causing a few characters to turn evil. One piece of concept art showed an evil two headed Dillon with a mechanical arm. Another showed Moose with spider legs and multiple eyes, kind of like a bootleg Waternoose from "Monsters Inc." It is up to Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Reggie to stop this evil force and make Riverdale beautiful again (and not a magnet for B-movie type monsters). Along the way, the gang encountered other characters from other places. Yes, this was meant to also be a crossover movie with DIC and Les Studios Tex's other licensed works. Initially, the movie was only going to be a crossover with "Sabrina the Animated Series" and "Sonic The Hedgehog (TV Series)" known by fans as "Sonic SatAM". It made alot of sense as Sabrina tend to appear within Archie's own adventures a few times, as well as Archie Comics being the main publisher of the Sonic comics as of the creation of this movie and the comics incorporating characters from "SatAM" and expand the show further. Then DIC Entertainment decides to add "Inspector Gadget", "Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century", "Dennis the Menace (1986 series)", and for some reason, the 1998 animated movie "My Friend Martin" Yeah, this is the most awkward crossover movie, even if it premiere on television or released on VHS and DVD. Apparently this is made as a decision to make the real "twist" villain Dr. Claw (and making it the first time they showed his face in the animated "Inspector Gadget" universe).
Sega was even on board with production, as a tie-in game for the Sega Dreamcast was planned to be released ahead of the movie. Most of the original cast and crew returned for this epic finale crossover movie of some of their most popular shows with some writers from Archie Comics on board for the project. DIC Entertainment made a BIG deal about releasing the film to the point that Universal Pictures Home Entertainment released a teaser trailer on certain VHS copies of "Monster Mash", "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meets the Wolfman", "Chicken Run" and "The Land Before Time VII: The Stone of Cold Fire". The teaser is done in the style of the cold teaser openings on PAX TV airings and future home media and digital prints of "Archie's Weird Mysteries" episodes (DIC Kids Network and early home media prints cut out the cold teaser openings and go straight to the intro). The trailer showed off some behind the scene footage, footage from their respective shows, and a finished scene from the movie. The teaser trailer on "Monster Mash", "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman" and "Chicken Run" had the working title of "Archie's Weird Mysteries The Movie" and Early 2001 release window, while the trailer on "The Land Before Time VII: The Stone of Cold Fire" had the official title of "Archie's Weird Mysteries The Movie: The Darkness Has Risen" and a February 2001 release and included a plug for the Sega Dreamcast tie-in game to be release in January 2001. Fans, mainly Archie fans and Sonic Fans, plus people who grew up in the 80's are in for the biggest crossover movie. Even Archie Comics is doing a comic adaptation of the movie that span across the "Archie Weird Mysteries" comics, the "Sabrina the Animated Series" comics, and the "Archie Sonic Comics".
But unfortunatly, less than a month before it's release, Universal Pictures and DIC Entertainment announced the film has been delayed to March 11 for the "World TV Premiere" and March 13 for the home media release. Sega also announced the game is delayed to February 20. Things turned for the worse as on February 6, 2001, as the film and tie-in has completed post production, Universal Pictures announced the film has been cancelled even though the film is ready to go for a big TV premiere and a home video release two days later and the game is ready for shipping to stores two weeks after. A few reasons why this decision was made were that Yuji Naka wanted some of the Sonic characters to have their "Sonic Adventure" designs, which angered Ben Hurst, ABC refused PAX TV to let them show "Sabrina the Animated Series" on another network outside of UPN due to the show already being a hit on "Disney's One Saturday Morning" and "Disney One Too", and test audience's reactions were said to be horrified by some of the content of the film. The FCC even refused to let them show the movie on TV due to how dark it is. In addition, Disney already announced a sequel to their "Inspector Gadget" live action movie which feared some of the crew working on the film (coincidently "Inspector Gadget 2" ended up as a direct to video film). The tie-in game however, ended released either way, only to have mixed reviews by longtime fans of DIC's works, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Archie Comics in general, saying that even though the game is almost done in the same game engine as the "Sonic Adventure" games, the game's clunky controls and bad dialogue makes "Sonic Shuffle" look like a masterpiece of "carbuncles eating themselves". Afterwards, DIC Entertainment signed a deal with MGM to distribute future DIC animated movies on DVD. Later on, DIC Entertainment got the permission to aired their newly named "DIC Movie Toons" on Nickelodeon. We did get a Archie movie using the designs from "Archie's Weird Mysteries" with "The Archies in Jugman", and Sabrina, Inspector Gadget, and Dennis the Menace would receive their own movies as part of "DIC Movie Toons".
Some of the cast and crew remembered this big TV/Direct to Video movie. Mainly Jaleal White, Ben Hurst, Melissa Joan Hart, Jim Cummings, and Ken Penders (yes, that Ken Penders). No joke, Ken Penders remembered seeing the test screening of the film and said to himself "The film could've been better if they had me on board for the production of the film and let them add Knuckles". Ben Hurst did brought up the movie in a interview and said that Sega wanted the film to used the "Sonic Adventure" designs for Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik, which really fired up his temper. Jaleal White said in a interview he had a blast recording dialogue for the film, especially the fact this is the last time he voiced the Blue Blur for a long while. When asked if he have any production material, Jaleal said that he probably lost some material for the film during a move. Mellissa Joan Hart does remembered that when the film got cancelled, she was out of town when she saw an news article about the cancellation of the film and went to DIC Entertainment's headquarters and demanded answers of the reasoning why her animated film she starred in got cancelled a month before release. Jim Cummings remembered bits and pieces of the film, mainly of a scene Dr. Robotnik capturing Chief Quimby. Jim Cummings posted an image of the scene through his social media.
Over time, some people, who are apart of the test screening remembered the film. A post about the film's existence was posted on the r/movies subreddit on November 23, 2018, posted by one of the test audience of the film's screening. While some VHS collectors have gotten some of the different copies of the films that contained the teaser trailer, but this eventually sparked a huge lost media search. Some people actually found some concept art, animatics, and even stills from the movie. On March 11, 2021, twenty years after what would've been the film's premiere date, someone actually spoke with some Archie Comics writers and they confirmed that the film's few VHS and DVDs are indeed store somewhere in Wildbrain's headquarters and that some of the voice actors and crew members did have some of DVDs and VHS tapes somewhere. It was also confirmed that the production team saw a test screening of the "Josie and the Pussycats" movie and said that their big Archie crossover was going to be better than that "hot garbage adaptation" of the hit Archie Comic. Then, on October 14, 2021, a YouTuber uploaded the opening to an early printing of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000 Film)" and it surprisingly included a trailer to "Archie's Weird Mysteries The Movie: The Darkness Has Risen". The print date is from January 3, 2001, and the trailer included our first look of what the film would've been, showcasing a more serious animated film. On May 11, 2022, a prototype of a cancelled PC version of the tie-in game was discovered and released online. The PC version of the game is different as the game is a 2D side-scroller rather than a 3D platformer and uses the 2D designs of the characters. People though joked around about the "midi soundtrack" and surprisingly even the Mobius stage theme was remix to a Sega Genesis mix through a "high quality rip" of "Sonic Origins" version of the theme for "Metropolis Zone Act 2" uploaded by SilvaGunner just 2 months after the prototype dropped online.
Then on the evening of March 23, 2023, a big discovery just happened. Someone actually found a copy of "Archie's Weird Mysteries The Movie: The Darkness Has Risen" at a Goodwill in Portland, Oregon. It presumably seem to be one of the VHS tapes that the Archie Comic writers confirmed to exist. The person who owned the tape said that he will upload the entire tape if he have a VHS to Digital converter.
Alright alright alright alright, there has been some updates since then. First of all, during San Diego Comic Con 2023, IDW announced that the comic reprints of the cancelled comics, that's been planned to promote the movie, that IDW found a box of, will be released as a collaboration with Archie Comics. This is what they said on the press release:
2 decades ago, a movie of several different characters from Archie Comics, Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog, and DIC Entertainment's (now Wildbrain) fan favorites team up to end an era of B-Movie monster paradise was announced, and a comic book adaptation was also announced with it. Eventually, all things must come to an end. The movie would be put into the graveyard of cancelled movies, and so did the comics. Now, 22 years later, the ultimate conclusion of "Archie's Weird Mysteries" has risen from it's grave. In conjunction with Archie Comics, Sega, Wildbrain, and King Features Entertainment, IDW brings "Archie's Weird Mysteries the Movie: The Darkness Has Risen" back to life. Featuring never-before seen comics featuring all your favorite friends from Riverdale, the story will wrap up the events of "Archie's Weird Mysteries" and also launches a new era of fan-favorite characters. Releases October 24.
Secondly, it turns out, a planned January 2001 rerelease of "Archie's Weird Mysteries: Archie and the Riverdale Vampires" also included the trailer for the movie. The rerelease was meant to coincide with the release of the movie, hence the trailer for the eventually cancelled movie alongside other different previews compared to the original August 2000 release of the movie.
And thirdly, the biggest thing to come out of the search, the movie was uploaded through YouTube and the Internet Archive. The entire tape was uploaded to full viewing. There was a lot a build up for the release to the point that a special livestream featuring most of the original actors (along with some of their successors, Andre "Black Nerd" himself, and even some of the cast of Riverdale were there (oh, and several Archie Comics workers and even Ian Flynn himself showed up)) did a big marathon of several shows that are represented in this film (Archie's Weird Mysteries, Sabrina: The Animated Series, Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM), Inspector Gadget, Dennis the Menace, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, and Our Friend Martin (still confuse about the reason why this film was chosen when even shows like Kidd Video should've been included).) All of this, leading up to the big reveal being the full reaction to the tape itself is huge. They also confirm a few things, such as the fact that Ben Hurst's plans to revive Sonic SatAM with the cancelled season 3 was planned to be a follow up to "Archie's Weird Mysteries the Movie: The Darkness Has Risen", at least in Sonic's timeline in addition to a planned second season of "Sonic Underground", "Sabrina's Secret Life" was meant to be the second season of "Sabrina: The Animated Series" if things go according to plan and was to use some of the characters and original voice actors from the first season rather than introduce a few new characters and replacing the entire cast, "The Archies in: Jugman" and "Dennis the Menace: Cruise Control" were meant to be backdoor pilots for continuations of the originals (all of these were planned for the cancelled NBC Saturday morning block if the film was released to the public), a potential "what if" scenario about if Universal would willing to rerelease the film by plastering the 1997 DIC Entertainment logo variant with the short 2012 Universal Pictures logo as seen on "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" and the 2021 Wildbrain logo, and speaking of Super Mario, DIC Entertainment had plans to include Mario in the movie, but Nintendo wouldn't allow their characters to be featured in a crossover movie with Sonic (this was back when Sega was still a first party company.) The actual movie is really bizarre though, but I glad some guy, who found the tape in a Goodwill, finally gets his hands on a VHS to Digital converter and hyped it up so much, he brought in familiar actors and workers and stuff to showcase this marvelous piece of lost media.
Here's a little creative writing project: make up a lost media story. Provide a fake description for something that doesn't exist. Make it as believable as possible.
Anyone remember Jake and the Gang? There was this old show that aired... I'm gonna say once or twice on Cartoon Network, sometime around the early to mid 2000's, and never again, I believe there were a few Promotional interstitials that aired, saying stuff like "Do YOU want to be on Cartoon Network? Call this number with your Wackiest Wishes, and you might be chosen for Jake and the Gang! Airing this Friday!". I actually recently got in touch with one of the directors, Raymie Muzquiz, and he told me that the one to reach out to would be James Gold. So I reached out, and he said he used to have the original files that were used to animate it, but they were on a hard drive that has since broken, can someone please help?
No joke, but I had an apparently false memory of a theatrical live-action Magic School Bus movie in the early 2010s that I always saw commercials of and my brother and I have a shared false memory of a cardboard cutout of a live action Miss Frizzle at the stores standing by the back-to-school products.

Once upon a time there were two rivaling storytellers. They both kept their stories in their satchels. They would write children's stories in the 1500s. Their rivalry was so bad they would threaten to fight on the steps of the theater but they never did... until one day when a huge fight broke out. They were both dead and their stories were all ripped up. To this day no backups of their stories have ever been found.
Pyramid Head is a cancelled film instalment. It was intended to be the third film of the Silent Hill film series. It was meant to be filmed right after Silent Hill: Revelation and planned for release in 2015-2017, but Revelation’s poor reception caused the film to be put on halt. Despite rumours circulating, it was quietly cancelled and nothing else was heard about it since.
In 2019, a plot summary and casting call for the cancelled film was leaked. The summary revealed that the film was a prequel and meant to focus on Pyramid Head’s origin. Mysteriously, the casting call was still open despite the film being no longer in production.

On December 29th, 2020, a streamer on YouTube was streaming his walk around New York. Around the 48:23 mark, a man was seen being shot in the background. The stream was immediately taken down after this incident. No other known information or proof this existed has been found except for a screenshot on 4chan before the man got shot. It is currently unknown if any of this happened or if the screenshot was faked.
On July 19th, 2010, during an airing of the SpongeBob episode Jellyfish Hunter; The Fry Cook Games from season two of the show, Nickelodeon accidentally aired audio of the Jonestown Massacre. All info known about this has been found in an interview of the employee who caused this. It is belived that this was done on purpose due to the employee saying he did not like his job. The broadcast of this has been lost.
i do not struggle with same sex attraction. i am actually very skilled at it.
Here's a few I thought up in my imagination that would sound believable: 1. Thomas and the Magic Railroad (lost international teaser trailer of 2000 kids' movie, 1999)- Two teaser trailers of the kids' movie "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" were made: one for the United States and one for outside of the US. The latter teaser was known to be longer than the US teaser and includes footage filmed exclusively for the teaser, including scenes where Mr. Conductor Junior steers Thomas, even though he never did that in the film itself. The international teaser trailer was only shown in cinema screenings of kids' films outside of the US and was released and dubbed in countries that never released nor dubbed the film itself. Sadly, the teaser is currently lost as no known footage has resurfaced after its initial releases. In Japan, it was rumored that the teaser was used in a few Shogakukan kids' VHS tapes, but there was no actual proof. 2. Nick Jr. TATMR interstitials (lost interstitials featuring Michael E. Rodgers, 2000)- In 2000, Destination Films and Nick Jr teamed up to promote "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" throughout the summer of 2000. During commercial breaks, there would be interstitials where a star of the movie tells us about trains and how they work. The ones featuring Mara Wilson were found, but the ones featuring Michael E. Rodgers are entirely lost as no known recordings of those segments were surfaced online.

Fraggle Rock - Red Fraggle Swear Tape (Lost tape of alternate takes of Jim Henson fantasy puppet series, 1980s).
Behind the scenes at The Jim Henson Company, a tape exists that is carefully preserved by the Henson archivists. This is because it is frequently viewed and quoted by employees. This is a tape of improvised outtakes of Red Fraggle of Fraggle Rock, played by Karen Prell, swearing in character when yelling angrily at her friends. Apparently, there are more F-bombs than the average R-rated film, and the very natural way Karen Prell delivers the swearing is so natural that it is now a Henson Company in-joke that Red swears like a sailor. One reported scene is an alternate take of one of Red's fights with Mokey in "A Cave of One's Own", where Red yells out, completely ad-libbed by Prell, "Hey listen, you piece of sh*t! Yeah, you with the toothpaste-*ss hair! I'm gonna need a f*cking explaination for this f*cking killer plant that you thought was a fan-f*cking-tastic idea to add to the little harmony of our perfect lil dream home!" Other scenes reportedly involve several of Red's disdainful reactions to Gobo starting to read one of his Uncle Traveling Matt's postcards, as well as a far more F-bomb filled take of her yelling at Gobo for forcing her to care for him in "Pebble Pox Blues".
When I was a kid I grew up watching a mix of both American and Latin American TV (mainly cause I came from a Spanish speaking family) and one of the shows I remember liking a lot was "Drawing with Tiffany" or "Dibujando con Tiffany" on this relatively obscure Latin American channel called Vme Kids.
The show starred this brunette lady called Tiffany and she would be joined by a cast of kids who would go on adventures with her while using the power of art to guide them on their way, there were always lessons about things like friendship, sharing, among other things. Each episode would end with Tiffany recapping the things they've drawn in the episode and had a segment where she would encourage the audience to draw the things alongside her.
The show was live action with some animation since the things the cast drew would usually come to life and interact with them, usually turning back into drawings by the time the episode was over.
I'm not sure how many seasons it had since information on it is so scarce but all I remember was that it just disappeared one day, mainly because I remember coming home from school to watch it and there was a bumper saying it was coming up next but instead there was an entirely different show.
I kinda forgot about it as I got older and only recently remembered it after seeing a younger relative watch a similarly styled show.
Planes trains and automobiles, lost alternate pizza scene. We all know the deleted scene where the pizza boy shows up, gets a small tip, and leaves. However, an alternate, much longer version was filmed, in which Neal and del decide to rail each other and when they got stiff, they’d stick it in. This went on for about 69,420 seconds. The scene was never found.

Banned Sesame Street episode Baby bear’s problem, there was an episode of Sesame Street that aired on June 28 2000 called Baby bear’s problem, in that episode Baby bear is feeling sad because his parents mama bear and papa bear got a divorce because Papa bear left a mess of porridge on the floor causing mama bear to fall and get hurt, the episode was banned because there was a scene when the count tried to cheer baby bear up by counting how many moms and dads he can see on Sesame Street, baby bear broke into a swearing tirade and said “Count leave me the fuck alone and go back to your stupid castle” the episode only aired once on PBS kids and was never aired again, it is currently unknown if sesame workshop has this episode archived.
