I was doing some deep searching on the Invader Zim 3D test pilot and I came across some pretty neat information. First things first I have an theory that there could possibly be 2 different 3D test pilots as some of the screenshots look drastically different. One has a more cartoonish style and the other looks very high quality and 3D. They both seem to be from the exact same seen and there's no way they are the same animation, even the cieling looks different. Another piece of information I have obtained is that Steve Ressel posted 2 screenshots of it awhile back, nothing special just 2 we know of today. I don't know much about Steve but he could have the lost pilot or some valuable information. I do not know how to contact him I have no information on emails or phone numbers. I was searching through and I found out about "Ask Steve." on the Invader Zim site in 2003 where you could send in any questions and he would answer. There was no information about the test pilot on there but I wonder if anyone still has his email or a way to contact. More information comes from a link, supposedly audio for the test animation but the video is no longer available. An archive is available on the wayback machine but it is after the video was already unavailable. Even more information, I don't know if this is true or not but what I read on the Invader Zim wiki is that a clip of the test animation was shown on a 2002 Nick Jr. on CBS promo but I am unsure how true that is. My last bit of information is most likely well known but the video was apparently on Milk and Cookies in '07-'08, However; I have rarely any information on that either. I appreciate anyone who can provide any information on any of the following, but that's all that I know.

Room With A Moose has (or rather, had) other images of the short, along with different behind the scenes sketches and production stuff provided by Ressel. Check it out here: x
-I do not believe this was a pilot like a lot of people are claiming it is. It was some sort of sample animation by an overseas studio. From the same Room With A Moose URL, commentary by Ressel:
"These are images from the pilot and then from different 3D techniques used in a sample prepared by our overseas studio. Sunwoo hoped they would do all 3D overseas and did this sampler in 3D which mimicked the pilot's food fight sequence....quite ridiculous."
-Steve Ressel had a LiveJournal account during this time, but it was invite-only. Haven't found the URL. I believe it could be a good lead, and might have some other interesting behind the scenes stuff if Room With A Moose is any indication. Careful for those wishing to search: This is the "Rugrats Storyboard Jam" guy...
-Unless I'm looking in the wrong spot, the Milk and Cookies lead is dead. The site had a tag system, and the "Invader Zim" tag doesn't show anything like this test animation. Something I should note is that the "Rugrats Storyboard Jam" isn't on his account, either... though if the rumor is true, he quickly deleted it after posting it sometime in November of 2004. I personally think the Wiki should change the status of the article to "Existence Unconfirmed", but I'm getting off topic. I'm going to once again check Room With A Moose and other IZ forums/fan sites from this time to look for more leads.

I feel like this has been all I ever talk about when I come to the LMW forums (otherwise I just lurk), but every time this subject comes up and I read about things that don't line up with what I recall, the memories of seeing this "test pilot" will just play in my brain repeatedly. The video I saw didn't contain any audio, not even reused audio from the pilot.

Not familiar with M&C, even as a huge Zim fan at the time. But if that's where it could've been, maybe that's how it got onto YT a little over a decade ago when I last saw it, who knows.

You'd be right, it wasn't a pilot. Unless a less-than-a-minute clip recreation of the foodfight scene from the pilot counts as one, but I doubt it, lol.

I know that having to constantly say "BUUUT, I SAW IT! IT MUST BE REAL BECAUSE I SAID SO!" isn't a very convincing argument, since a lot of false leads start with that exact narrative, but I'll assure you that I have pretty clear memories of this being on YouTube circa 2010-11, and with that I think it might possibly have a chance of resurfacing at some point in time. It is concerning that it hasn't happened sooner, or at all even, making the chances that someone had archived it become less likely as time goes on. But if it happened once, it could happen again.
I do wonder however, if whoever uploaded it back then was someone in the industry uploading their portfolio..

So i did some digging on this (mildly). I thought it would be very unlikely that anything invader zim related would be on a nick jr on CBS timeslot. I found one youtube video that claims that it is a clip of invader zim on nick jr cbs, but it looks REALLY fake to me, i'm not really sure why someone would make a fake video of that scenario though unless it was in reference to this. This is the clip i found x. Strange, but worth mentioning i suppose.
To speculate further though, while i find it unlikely it was on a Nick Jr programming. It is very possible it was on the Nick on CBS programming. While I don't have first hand experience of watching this channel, wikipedia states "It initially aired programming from the Nick Jr. block until 2002, when it began airing mainline programming from Nickelodeon" Which matches up with the supposed timeline. While unlikely; it is plausible these clips could have been used as quick, fast paced action scenes in an over-dubbed promo for the show. This could explain how it could be used without any audio.
Though wikipedia also does not explicitly make mention of invader zim airing on the channel, so this speculation is ultimately not very useful. I'll probably keep trying the youtube route for now.

I was talking about the "Rugrats Storyboard Jam" in the reply you quoted, not the IZ test footage. And no, it was not someone uploading their portfolio. As I said previously, Room With A Moose says that Ressel is the one who provided the images, along with other behind the scenes stuff. He was active on their forum back in the early 00s. Whoever uploaded it onto YouTube circa 2010-2011 was either Ressel himself, someone who worked at Sunwoo, or someone on the Room With the Moose site who was given the clip.
