I saw the trailer for this film not long before the pandemic began. I saw it because it got retweeted by @scottwamplerbmd on Twitter. It was a brand new movie, set some time in the 60s and 70s.
The trailer goes like this: The protagonist owes money to some bad people who threaten to hurt/kill him if he doesn't pay up. He then sees an article where a stuntman is killed on a movie set, and there's a huge insurance payout because of it. He then gets the idea to make an action movie with a bunch of dangerous stunts, in order to get the stuntman killed and get the insurance payout. But problems arise when the stuntman he hires is just too good, and he's unable to get him killed. I vividly remember there being a montage of the stuntman being in a bunch of explosions and crashes. There's a scene where the director says something like "he was a good soul and will be missed," but the stuntman comes out from the smoke behind him, and the director says something like "er, uh, i mean, great! Good job!". I'm not sure if this is true, but i believe the trailer was set to some pop track from the 60s, possibly I Get Around by The Beach Boys
I am probably wrong on this, but I'm like 75% sure the protagonist was Al Pacino. I had watched Once upon a time in hollywood shortly before i saw this trailer, and i remember thinking that he looked just like his character from OUATIH in it. The only reason I think I may be wrong is because i find it hard to believe that a new film with Al Pacino as the lead would become lost media.
I know for sure that the trailer at least exists somewhere. I watched it multiple times on Twitter and YouTube. I've erased my YouTube history since watching it though, and i haven't been able to scrub through Scott Wampler's tweets since there's so many. I've yet to find anyone else who knows what I'm talking about, i feel like I'm going crazy. It'd be cool just to know that I'm not the only one who saw it.
