Apparently this was a UK musical based off that one episode... I'm not even going to search this up, I'm not even gonna ask how this became a thing. It just... exists in this very realm.
I have the cast recording CD of this. It’s pretty common for stage productions based on American media (particularly kids media) to pop up in foreign countries to little American or international attention. This was in southeast Asia, though, I think Singapore or Malaysia, rather than the UK.

Well, according to the user who uploaded this, it was a UK play. Though, if it was in Singapore, or Malaysia instead, then there must be some kind of misinformation surrounding this.

It could also be that the play was performed in the UK (I’ve read this elsewhere, too), but that the CD I own was of the Asian cast (everyone has an American accent, though, and judging by the photo on the back, at least the majority of them were Caucasian).
Some of these productions happen to originate in the UK, too. I have a big leatherbound Marvel history book from the early 2000s that describres in detail, with large, full-color photos a UK musical called Spider-Man on Stage that ran at a British theme park (can’t recall which at the moment) in the late 1990s. It’s difficult to find info online nowadays, because most of the the results pertain to the recent and much-more publicized and high-profile Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, but a cast album was released for this one, too www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Stage-Original-Cast-Album/dp/B0018LQE82
By the way, I’m sure my CD is the same recording you linked to on YouTube, since that was the only one released.

This was a 2009 touring musical which travelled around the UK, performing at various theatres across Great Britain; Hammersmith Apollo, Southend, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Reading, Salford, Sunderland, Nottingham, Liverpool, High Wycombe, Plymouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Oxford, Killarney and Dublin. The show was choreographed by Alison Pollard and the character of SpongeBob was played by English actor Chris Coxon. Apparently the show was so popular that it was localised for other countries as well, such as China and Hong Kong.
does anybody have a vhs or dvd recording of it that they can digitize and put the files here? it would be cool to watch
That rarely happens unless a professionally-taped version is produced. An audience member holding a camera through an entire show would eventually get caught and kicked out of the theater.
And I don’t think this was ever professionally recorded, or there would be some record of that somewhere on Wikipedia or something. The more recent and big-budget one had a taped version that aired on Nickelodeon a couple Christmases ago. Unless Nick UK did that with this one, I doubt any such thing exists.
