I'm reaching out here in hopes of finding an episode to a show titled 'Moon Over Miami', from 1993. I enjoy watching old television, and one of my favorite movies is the 1991 film 'The Rocketeer', starring Bill Campbell. I was browsing through Bill Campbell's filmography one day, and came across a show he starred in in 1993 titled 'Moon Over Miami'. 'Moon Over Miami' was a comedy-detective show, incorporated with jazz music and a Miami night-life. The show ran for 13 episodes between September 15th to December 1st, the last 3 episodes only appearing in the UK due to the show being cancelled by ABC in the US. Finding information about this show is hard, as it appears a lot of it wasn't properly archived. ABC never produced any home media releases of the show (at least not any that records can find), and it's not available to stream anywhere.
I found a torrent containing 12 of the 13 episodes. They were TV recordings, as that's the only way the show can be viewed. It wasn't until after downloading that I discovered I'm missing an episode, Episode 3 in fact. The episode in question is titled 'My Old Flame'. I wouldn't mind so much about missing episodes, if it weren't for the fact information regarding this show is very scarce. So for the past few weeks, I've been trying to find this episode on my own accord - with little to no development. Down below is all the information I can provide regarding my search.
I’ve checked the following sites:
YouTube: Found a singular clip of the episode in question by a YouTuber named TheElleGeorge. however, the channel has not uploaded anything in 7+ years. I reached out anyway. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH_LtTo8DSc&ab_channel=TheElleGeorge
Archive.org: Has recordings of Episode 1 “Pilot”, and Episode 4 “Farewell My Lovelies”. I have not managed to find any other video on Archive.org that contains an episode of ‘Moon Over Miami’, but I also haven’t bothered looking through every subsidiary of ABC’s stations from that exact year, exact date.
1337x.to: Where I found the only torrent (and only way to watch) for Moon Over Miami. Contains 12 of the 13 episodes, that missing episode is Episode 3. Reached out in the comments to this torrent asking for a copy, probably won’t receive a response.
oldtimetv.net: A website that sells manufactured-on-demand DVDs for old shows. Moon Over Miami is listed on this website. I emailed the owner, asking if they have a copy of this episode. No response yet. Website says the DVD contains 12 of 13 episodes, but do not clarify which episodes in question.
Scarecrow and Mrs. King fan forum: a Tapatalk forum for an 80s show called ‘Scarecrow and Mrs. King’. The only mention of Moon Over Miami I’ve managed to find online exists in a forum post on this site from 2010. Poster in question was looking for a way to download ‘Moon Over Miami’, torrents or whatnot. They then found a torrent consisting of all 13 episodes. Poster has not been active since 2013, but the forum had its last interaction in 2019. I made an account to reach out. www.tapatalk.com/groups/scarecrowandmrskingforum/viewtopic.php?p=95543#p95543
Additionally, 'Moon Over Miami' would air on BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC Three in the UK. While 'Moon Over Miami' was a failure in the US, it was a success overseas. The last three episodes to this show would air exclusively there, and I've found TV guide reports for these channels stating the show would have reruns all the way up to around 1996 or 1997. genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/7774c933e4f34f1b8b561d081ad48f20
It also appears as though my recordings are different from the ones that are on TheElleGeorge's YouTube (the person who has clips of the show, and a clip from Episode 3). Their recordings are from BBC 3, with Swedish subtitles, except for Episode 3.
So, we're looking for TV recordings that aired on ABC and its subsidiaries, or BBC One, BBC Two or BBC Three.
I'm writing this post here, as I don't believe this is lost media and it's too obscure to warrant a massive search. But if anyone's taken interest, I'd love for any help to find this missing episode. I have managed to take the torrented episodes I downloaded and archive them on a Google Drive account, and will also add them to Archive.org. I believe this show should be properly archived, despite its obscurity.
