The storyboards seen in the above video are (presumably) for an animated film. Yet their origins are unknown, and still have yet to be properly identified. With the only clue being the potential title of "Heroes And Monsters" which is shown in a piece of concept art in the beginning of the video.
Originally uploaded in 2010 by YT user Elimeleh69, the video contains lyrics to the song "Chasing The Dragon" by Epica. Using said storyboards as visuals. Whether or not the boards were drawn by Elime is unknown, as both the description and the comment section don't say anything about where they possibly came from. But I doubt they were the original artist(s) as they have used various different clips from a ton of different movies, shows, games, etc for their Epica lyric videos. Including Corpse Bride, Avatar, and even Mars Attacks! of all things. Not to mention the boards don't exactly fit the song's theme. Making Elimeleh69 an unlikely canidate for the original owner of the storyboards.
The only other info we have is a short, albeit poorly translated, plot summary found in the video's description.
"Every thing that Edi think about come to be true,
His father want to teach him how to control his Ability, and wants Edi to inherit him.
Edi's big brother feel jealous on Edi's Ability Because he want to inherit the father,
so he is trying to get among them .
Mabe someday it will be a movie."
His father want to teach him how to control his Ability, and wants Edi to inherit him.
Edi's big brother feel jealous on Edi's Ability Because he want to inherit the father,
so he is trying to get among them .
Mabe someday it will be a movie."
The boards begin with a flashback to Edi's childhood as he and his father discuss something before bed (maybe something regarding Edi's destiny or something). The video cuts to a later storyboard with Edi (now a teen) and his father greeting a group of young children. The king allows Edi to watch over the children for the day, but this ends in disaster as Edi draws a picture of an alien spaceship in the dirt, which in turn causes it to be brought to life and wreak havoc on the kingdom. Only disappearing when the king brushes away the drawing. Edi's brother (plus his minion) are watching all of this from afar and seem surprised at Edi's magical abilities. Edi's brother then pulls out a large quill and stares at it longingly. The quill then turns gold and starts to glow. Shocking the brother. The video then cuts to a split screen showing two different scenes. One with Edi hanging out with what appears to be Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. And the other showing his brother reading the book "The Man Who Would Be King". Edi shows off his powers to his friends by drawing a whale and bringing it to life. Then Edi hears a loud explosion(?) coming from the building that his brother is in. Edi rushes in to see what's going on, his brother appears to be fine, but Edi notices that the text in "The New Adventures Of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer" is now written backwards, which his brother ignores. Judging by their expressions, Edi tells his brother about something that's worrying him and the brother gives him some reassurance. Later, Edi is haunted by a dark vision of a dragon devouring the moon, his father then gives him a magical dreamcatcher which is meant to prevent the visions. After Edi falls asleep, the brother's minion comes out from under the bed and removes the dreamcatcher. The minion starts to read a book to the sleeping Edi (which I guess is supposed to cause him to get nightmares). These nightmares come to life as various monsters and/or dragons that attack the king and Quasimodo (who seems to have a role as the king's assistant). The pair are cornered by the monsters, but are quickly rescued in the last second by Robin Hood. The scene cuts to a wide-shot showing the kingdom in flames caused by the dragons. Edi then wakes up, seeing that the dreamcatcher has been removed. His brother runs into his room and warns him of the monsters destroying the kingdom. The two proceed to run away. The video then cuts to later scene where the brother is in a canyon looking for Edi. He finds Edi knocked out on a cliff, but the brother accidentally causes a rockslide, which in turn causes Edi to (presumably) fall to his doom. The brother is visibly upset by this, however he is reminded of the magical quill by his minion. The brother, now the villain, then uses the quill (which seems to have powers similar to Edi's) to entrap his father in ice. The video ends by showing that Edi actually survived the rockslide, along with showing a piece of concept art with a lineup of characters. Which appears to be (from left to right), a troll, Quasimodo, Frankenstein's Monster, Edi, Dracula, and some unnamed princess character.
Like I said, there is absolutely zero info about this film online. Searching up the supposed title "Heroes And Monsters" turns up nothing, and trying to search up the main character's name or the film's premise yields no results. Elimeleh69 has not been active in two years, and lists no other social media accounts on their about page, so I doubt we'll get any info from them.
The only lead we have is the design of the unnamed princess character seen in 0:04 of the video. I noticed that she looks very similar to a character from the cancelled Disney film called "Wild Life" (the character known as "Kitty Glitter" to be exact). I emailed one of the character designs for that project, Hans Bacher, about it a couple weeks ago, but he has yet to respond.
Considering the film's interesting plot, and its relative obscurity, this is practically begging to be to next big Lost Media Wiki search! I definately think this is something worth looking into. What do you guys think?
