It's been a while, that I went to this thread, but these animated shorts made by students were shown at Junior Jammies in SVA, the shorts looked great, and hopefully they'll be online later next month, so they wouldn't be hard to find.
Speaking of lost web animation, I remember watching this Kimba/The Lion King fan-animation when I was a kid. I posted about in the r/kimbamemes subreddit, but I still haven't found it yet.
"I remember when I was a kid, I used to be obsessed with The Lion King, and I would bookmark whatever Lion King fanart archive page or Lion King YouTube video I liked.
I remember one of the videos I watched was this YT flash animation featuring both Kimba and Simba uploaded around 2008-2009. The animation would be fairly dated by today's standards (both in animation quality and in the Kimba Controversy itself), but to a young kid growing up with early flash animations, I rather enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, the video no longer exists. The original link (listed below) doesn't work anymore and doing the "v=numbersandletters" trick turns up nothing. I tried looking through YouTube, TLKFAA, and Newgrounds, but I haven't still found it.
Luckily, I remember the video quite vividly, and I'm sure I can quote it word for word.
Here's how the video went (from what I can remember):
Simba, sitting in a green field, skull in one paw: To be or not to be...
Kimba, entering from camera left: Okay, so you're based off Hamlet, but did you have to steal my rock? Warthog? Girlfriend? Clouds shaped like our dad? Monkey? Annoying bird? Eating bugs? Dude with something wrong with his eye? Hyenas? Stampede? Getting pushed off a cliff by a relative? Fight scene?
*it's also worth noting that while Kimba is listing these examples, various screenshots of what he's talking about shows up on screen*
Simba: ...Those don't mean anything!
Kimba: Oh yeah? Then how about our names rhyming? How do you explain that? HUHH?!!! *angrily hyperventilates*
Simba: That was just a coincidence! "Simba" means "lion" in Swahili.
Kimba: Well at I don't have subliminal messages!
Simba: When have I had a subliminal message?
*cuts to a clip of the infamous SFX/SEX "message" in The Lion King*
