I have recently come across a piece of lost media I was interested in. In 1968, Giles, Giles & Fripp, a band that eventually led to the formation of prog rock legends King Crimson, played on BBC's Colour Me Pop program. From I what I have gathered, the band played a 30 minute mimed set of about 7 songs. There is no footage or audio known to exist sadly. I was wondering if anyone would know more about this topic. I think it would be interesting for us Crimson fans
Hello! I have made posts on the King Crimson and Lost Media subreddits over on Reddit about this! I have so far managed to find the songs they did on CMP and I'm currently looking for any leads to contact regarding anything about this performance by Giles, Giles & Fripp. It should be noted that the tracks which the band were set to mime to can be found on GGF's 2001 archival compilation "The Brondesbury Tapes". Peter Giles himself produced them and handed copies over to BBC engineers for the show, while keeping some for himself which ended up being in "The Brondesbury Tapes".
