-----------------------------
Hello everyone, this is my first (formal) foray into the world of lost media, so hopefully I'm approaching this right!
What I'm in search for is something that seems to have been lost to the ravages of time - and that is the edited version of the Funimation dub that aired on Cartoon Network in the USA from September 2007-March 2008. These airings picked up for where the previous (and most notorious) 4kids dub left off, the Skypeia arc (aka "Season 3"). These would be the first episodes Funimation would dub before going back to redub the first two seasons in early 2008.
To maintain consistency from the 4kids dub (and meet Cartoon Network broadcast standards), these episodes featured 4kids names and terminology (i.e. "Zoro" was changed to "Zolo", "Devil's Fruit" to "Cursed Fruit", "Ordeals" to "IQ Orb Tests", etc.), and instances of swearing and religious references were also toned down or altered. Visual censorship was heavily used as well, with cigarettes and flowing blood/wounds being digitally painted away (here's one of the few remaining clips of this version online: www.youtube.com/watch?v=apUfZgqwA7Y).
Censorship aside, this version is also unique because it contains several alternate lines from what would ultimately be released uncut on DVD a few years later, mostly due to not having a full grasp of some of the character's personalities the first time around, and wishing to do a few retakes here and there.
In all, Cartoon Network would air episodes 144-167, in the US anyway, while Cartoon Network in Australia would run episodes 168-174 of the edited version, before switching over to the uncut version for episodes 175-195 (which I am also searching for, as these episodes feature the "original", unaltered lines on the aforementioned DVD release).
All of these airings were once uploaded to the internet via youtube, megaupload and torrents back in the day from rippers from each respective country, but of course, these are all long gone.
Does anyone know about this, or have a few ideas on where I can continue my search? Thanks
